Who "turned you on" to the Rolling Stones?

my best friend in high school...he insisted that i run out and buy "Hot Rocks" immediately...that's all i needed to get hooked...started buying all the regular lps ($3.98 in 1976)....then the boots....it's been a good "30 year marriage" p.s. and the "chain" continued when i got my little brother (8 years younger) into the Stones as well as the Sex Pistols and the Ramones

A school friend of mine who just moved back from Germany gave me a cassette tape of Stones Story. I played it till it faded night after night, the age of 13 or so. Must have been around'75. First LP I bought was Love You Live soon thereafter.

I break my ass every day

An elder sister of mine, when I must have been 8 or 9, bought Aftermath (US version) and played it quite a bit. I had been utterly fascinated way before that by The Last Time running on the radio. But Aftermath dit it: thanks sis!!

I saw a "History Of Rock-TV show" when I was 8 years old. They showed Sympathy For The Devil from Altamont and the promo of JJFlash. Only 10 minutes with the Stones, and 2-3 hours with other artists. Still, I couldnt forget those 2 songs, saw them over and over again on our VCR.

Hearing 'Satisfaction' when I was three years old, then hearing 'Start Me Up' and 'Hangfire' when I was eight or nine. First albums bought were 'Undercover' when it first came out, then 'Hot Rocks' and 'Sticky Fingers'. That was right about the time I stared playing guitar.

I had heard PIB on the radio, and I read about SFTD in Fear and Loathng in Las Vegas. I was in NYC in spring 2004, and i bought a bootlegged version of 40 Licks. Been hooked since then.

Us Magezine 1981... they put together an issue on the '81 North American Tour with interviews and a brief history of the band. I read that magezine until it fell apart and turned to dust. I have been insane ever since!

In 1978/79 I was 11/12 yrs old, on the bus saw some older (jr high) dudes sing the Miss You harmony as they stepped off the bus in Frisco. I thought that was the coolest. Got into Some Girls and then Emotional Rescue. Heard Satisfaction on radio and couldn't believe it was the same group--it was another era! I remembered the song from the Apocalypse Now commercials. Got Hot Rocks in '80 and along w/ a tossed out unauthorized biography.

My older brother John. When was a wee lad I used to sit outside his door (He wouldn't let me in!) and listen to him spin 45s and LPs. The Who, The Beatles and of course the Stones. Ah, salad days!

My mum turned me on to the Stones when I was 10.
she bought the Satisfaction single and the 3 of us kids where jumping & goofing around for weeks. That 45 was played to death - no groove left...

Spring 1972, my neighbour Gerry Shoenfeld got tix for the NYC shows. I remember the press coverage as being like nothing I'd ever seen. Being thirteen, I could compare it to JFK's assasinanation, it was ubiuitous.

After moving to Seattle, I remember hearing "Gimme Shelter" and it was voodoo, pure vodoo. I swear that song's got dark mystical powers in it 'coz I weren't on anything else.

Haven't been the same since. And I git down on mah knees and thank the Devil every day!

My uncle (God bless his soul) gave me the "Rolled Gold" double LP as a christmas (or birthday, don't remember exactly) gift back in 1975 - bang, that was it! "Some Girls" has been the first record I've bought on release date, since "Black And Blue" sounded a little too weird for the 14 year old boy then...

1963/64: U.S.A. Beatles started the British invasion..lots of other groups who never made it, but the interest spread quickly. After I bought "Meet the Beatles" vinyl LP, I became interested, as many teens in those days, saw the albumn "England's Newest Hit Makers THE ROLLING STONES". I did myself a favor and turned myself on to them. Have never changed my mind, through all the changes in other's musical interest...always the Stones for me.

Was baby sitting for some neighbors in August 1972 and after getting the kids to bed I watched the Dick Cavett show (the famous Stones episode - at MSG) and have been a fan since. I was 14 at the time.

Probably mom. Rock N Roll was always a way of life around the house, but it was mom taking me and my sisters to see Lets Spend The Night Together that made the Stones more than just another catchy song on the radio.

a little girl in the neighbourhood whose family spent a year in England.
when she came back in the autumn of 63, she came bearing singles
by a couple of bands that were just starting to get popular over there.
i heard and believed: i belong to you and you belong to me so come on!

Rolled Gold was the firt that hit hard. An old compilation on cassette. It belonged to my mother, the only stones item in a huge collection of beatles and assorted flower power stuff.

Start me up was the definitive KO-

My first "meeting" with the Stones: My older brother had bought Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!, and slapped his hand into the speaker to the rhythm of JJF. I'd never seen him done that before!
