OT RIP Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona has died from a heart attack just days after turning 60.

The Argentinian football legend died at home, his lawyer said, just two weeks after having surgery on a blot clot in his brain.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time on the pitch, his life off the pitch was equally notorious - amid battles with drug and alcohol addiction.

Holy shit...he just turned 60 last month...
he did a lot of bad things to his body, but what
he did with his body and a ball was
absolutely fabulous!

1986 is the first World Cup I remember watching as a kid and I remember how great it was to watch Maradona play.

RIP A true genius.

Despite his shortcomings he was, at his peak, the greatest. An idol with feet of clay but boy, was he untouchable when he was on form.

As a Napoli fan, I've been blessed to watch him play several times at the stadium. He was our leader and our captain, and struggled for us against everyone and under any condition. We are devastated.

Arguably the greatest of the greats of his sport. Condolences to his family, friends, teammates, Argentina, followers of the Napoli team, and his fans worldwide.

He may have benefitted from the hand of God, but he couldn’t beat the hand of fate.

Now and forever, one of the immortals.

R.I.P.

Rest in peace, Diego Maradona

I’ll always remember my introduction to him: that wondrous effort against Nigeria at the ‘94 World Cup.

He was also a cheat and a liar, however. Yet, a wonderful footballer. I guess he’ll go down as an enigma. No one will ever understand.

Probably the greatest football player ever. He had all the skills. There was nothing he couldn't do on a football pitch.

God took his hand back grinning smiley

No one could ever knock the second goal he scored that day. One of the absolute bests, he basically won that World Cup in 86 on his own.

A fantastic player and gone far too early at the age of 60.

His lifestyle reminds me a lot of George Best who also passed away far too early.

On the News all the time this evening here in UK, and although 'The hand of God'
goal against England at World Cup 1986,will always be remembered by England fans, most football fans here in UK know that he was a truly wonderful player.
R.I.P. Diego.

The greatest player of his generation.....easily. Possibly the greatest ever. There was never a dull moment with Diego. Outrageous on and off the pitch.
A sad day for football.....

The President of Argentina has declared three days of national mourning for Diego Maradona. Tells you a little bit about the magnitude of his fame.
