(not fully) OT: James T. Kirk a/k/a William Shatner – New CD: The Blues

Yes, he did it again: William Shatner recorded a new album, this time a blues album. Sounds like it was a fun affair. Stones connection: Route 66, Mannish Boy. He also did Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love.

Shatner will be 90 next March, so noone say age is a barrier to being a prolific recording artist. This is his fourth album since 2011's Seeking Major Tom.

Here's the track list:

01. Sweet Home Chicago (feat. Brad Paisley)
02. I Can’t Quit You Baby (feat. Kirk Fletcher)
03. Sunshine Of Your Love (feat. Sonny Landreth)
04. The Thrill Is Gone (feat. Ritchie Blackmore)
05. Mannish Boy (feat. Ronnie Earl)
06. Born Under A Bad Sign (feat. Tyler Bryant)
07. I Put A Spell On You (feat. Pat Travers)
08. Crossroads (feat. James Burton)
09. Smokestack Lightnin’ (feat. Jeff “Skunk” Baxter)
10. As The Years Go Passing By (feat. Arthur Adams)
11. Let's Work Together (feat. Harvey Mandel & Canned Heat)
12. Route 66 (feat. Steve Cropper)
13. In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company (feat. Albert Lee)
14. Secrets Or Sins

I was surprised back in March when I heard tv sources quoting William Shatner about his views on the covid-19 pandemic...
... Annoyed that they thought that anyone cared about the opinions of Captain Kirk

The next day I learned that they were referring to Dr. William Schaffner, professor of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University.

My bad.

I listened to some snippets of this a while back, and the humorous novelty of Shatners deadpan style wears off quickly.
It was kind of funny way back in the '70's when he did Rocket Man, but now not so much...I'd say he's a one hit wonder lol...
That said, it would be nice to hear an all instrumental version of this album with all these fantastic guitar players.

These are the kind of CDs people give each other at Christmas as jokes. They're played once or twice and then put on the shelf never to be heard again.

That is, on a par with Stones greatest hits compilations in recent years? spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Funny and for me crazy coincidence, I watched Star Trek back in the 90's but didn't remember anything about Dr Spock's view on child helth care if you'd asked me yesterday. Until about three hours ago when I read about it in a book that the missus' psychiatrist gave me TODAY. And now I read it in a post on IORR not 4 hours later!!

As usual this webpage is like a Dylan record (or for that matter a Stones record, at least sometimes) as it describes my life in an instant, hits home right on the head most of the times. Cheers lads!
