Will not be able to buy this...

Quote:

"Featuring Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Harvey Mandel, Blue Mitchell, Jon Mark and many more outstanding musicians, the 35 discs in this mammoth package include three CD singles and eight previously unreleased discs, alongside newly remastered versions of the original Decca & Polydor albums.
The unreleased concerts include Windsor 1967, Gothenburg 1968, Berlin 1969 and San Francisco 1970 and the 28 unreleased BBC tracks feature none other than Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor!"

These shows have been around a long time; wonder what the quality will be like!?

Not really looking forward here.

John Mayall was really good in finding good musicians and putting
a band together.
But I never could stand his voice.
He ruined so many good songs with his awful singing.

Just my 2cts

Wow, I am a John Mayall fan but this is too expensive for me.

I saw him live many years ago (1996 I think?) and he signed a CD slip for me (Disc 1 of Eric Clapton's 'Crossroads' box set), which maybe irked him as it wasn't a Mayall album per se, but Disc 1 has Bluesbreakers selections included! I don't know, he didn't seem like he was in a good mood that night, but who knows.

There are 2 Mayall CDs Live in 1967 featuring Peter Green. These are fantastic.
Makes you forget the voice for sure.

Mayall is known to be a bit churlish or distant with fans. My friend saw him a few years back and went to the merch table afterwards, where John was, bought a cd and told him how his harp playing on 'Parchman Farm' was an inspiration - and Mayall just took the cash, handed him the cd, and gave him the cold shoulder, saying nothing. I guess after 50+ years of touring he's heard it all and just can't be bothered. At least he stays in shape by carrying his own gear.

I've always liked his bluesy vocals, but not enough to buy a 35 cd set!
Fortunate to have seen him couple of times - w/Taylor and McVie during the '82 reunion at the LA Roxy which was amazing, and back in 2002 or '03 w/Buddy Whittington in Amsterdam which was OK/not bad.
I might have seen him with Coco Montoya in the lineup around '90-ish, but can't remember exactly where or when...if it even happened at all ha... (might have been one of those wasted/wild/crazy nights).......

Saw him a couple times in the sixties, that was enuff for me. Great band, pretty boring performances as I recall but it might have just been my youth speaking. Did like that record with Going to California on it though. It was a major break from his blues roots though. Cannot recall the name of it for the life of me though, just heard it way too much back then.

He was most renown for his large porn collection, something that I would assume became instantly obsolete at some point.

Saw him a couple of times, including once with Mick Taylor (the reason I was there, to be honest). He was OK, but not inspiring. Buddy Whittington could play, though.

I heard and listened to one of his live shows with Coco Montoya , i could hear him very well as it was loud . That voice of his could be heard and picked out easily .
