Ah, yes, those were the daze. Another artifact of the "Swingin' 60s" who spent time in the news, usually for being busted. I remember how it was considered a truism that LSD inspired Sgt. Pepper, Satanic Majesties, Mister Tambourine Man and many other pieces of music, helping usher in the age of psychedelia and psychedelic art and music. One of the more memorable tunes noting Leary I've linked to below the article. One of my fave Moodies songs. Not sure I'd call it actually psychedelic, but it still sounds great. The phrase "tune in, turn on, drop out" was also a popular thought for some folks during that time. A different time for the world.

This was the innocent time for drugs, before we figured out they were only a positive temporarily, and continued use would tear you down. Or, that you had to moderate your amounts and frequencies. (Something Brian never did). I think psychedelics at the time inspired those works, but I don't think they were created while on them. I'm sure there were exceptions.

Yeah read Orange Sunshine about the Brotherhood of Eternal Light (or maybe it was Love) and their dealings with the grandstanding, martyr status seeking walking freakout that was Leary and his crazy ass son. That will convince you of something, not sure what.
