Marianne Evelyn Gabriel Faithfull (born 29 December 1946) is an English singer, songwriter, and actress.

From 1966 to 1970, she had a highly publicised romantic relationship with Mick Jagger.

"Sympathy for the Devil", featured on the 1968 album Beggars Banquet, was partially inspired by The Master and Margarita, written by Mikhail Bulgakov, a book to which Faithfull introduced Jagger.

In 1968, Faithfull appeared in The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus concert, giving a solo performance of "Something Better".

Her Broken English album was a revelation for me. Hadn't thought of her up until then beyond her cover of As Tears Go By, but Broken English was/is something else. I turned a number of people onto the album. A number of them flipped out when they first heard Why'd Ya Do It. It's rawness, combined with the energy of the song, was/is wild. I have almost everything she's recorded since then. Can't say I like everything she's recorded. She is her own self and unique in that regard. Some of her live recordings, available out there on the Information Superhighway, are exceptional.

I doubt the Stones would've been THE STONES without Marianne and esp. Anita.
That's been decisive years.

Give My Love to London & Easy Come Easy Go are really excellent albums from an artist late in her career-- well worth a listen to !

Faithfull, in her autobiography, commented that her fluid yet rhythmic reading of Williams' lyrics adapted to "Why D'Ya Do It?" was "an early form of rap" (wiki).

The title track to "Broken English" which addressed terrorism in Europe, was dedicated to Ulrike Meinhof (1934 – 1976), a West German far-left militant (wiki).

"... no happy ending to the game" (c 1995),"Flaming September" from Marianne's album, "A Secret Life"...

Agreed ... and I am almost sure Marianne is still alive. She was on a commercial for TV Land, or some station, still looks pretty good!
