Your pick for the nastiest Rolling Stones song

And let's exclude CS Blues.

The first one that comes to mind for me is "Stray Cat Blues". The narrative in that song is very nasty.

Just looking through my list...

"Let it Bleed" is quite nasty.
I guess that I will throw in "Star Star".
"Downtown Suzie", Bill the old perv.
On the side lines you have "If You Can't Rock Me", but it's hard to take seriously.
"Live With Me" is definitely in the nasty zone.
"When the Whip Comes Down" is probably nasty if you can understand the lyrics. Something about a gay truck driver... Same thing for "Brown Sugar", somewhat nasty but casual listeners can barely decipher the lyrics.
I would not really include "Midnight Rambler" because it suggests fictional storytelling, once-removed from something truly nasty.
Perhaps "Slave"?

Anyway, my pick is "Stray Cat Blues".

THANK GOD nothing from the Stones is in Marilyn Manson territory.

Definitely Family!

Here comes the girl, she's got her head screwed on
But it ain't screwed on right
Her ambition is to be a prostitute
But the breaks just weren't right

What exactly's going to happen, tell me
When her father finds out
That his virgin daughter has bordello dreams
And that he is the one she wants to try out?

I'll throw 'Tie You Up (The Pain of Love)' into the mix.

May not be the "nastiest"...per se...but I feels it warrants consideration. For me, the overall sound of the recording gives it a bit of a rough, nasty edge that serves to embellish its' subject matter; it's a perfect marriage.

Suck on the jugular is not precisely subtle or the finest allegorical expression...

Gonna change my shape. And change my name
Want to get out of myself for a while
Don't feel no shame. I love men to be men. And women, women
On special occasions diving and dipping
All get together and feel alright
All get together and @#$%& all night
Let's live lasciviously
Down in the muck
And when tonight's over
You gonna watch me blow
And self-destruct

Are we looking at the narrative or the vibe of the recorded song ?

A lot of folks are thinking mostly songs with "nasty" misogynistic lyrics...but for dark evil vibes and menace, it's hard to top Gimme Shelter.

They don't write songs for snowflakes.

I'm sure I stand to be corrected.

Many of the early Jagger/Richards-penned compositions contain lyrics that are misogynistic or snide towards women: Under My Thumb, Backstreet Girl, Stupid Girl. There's so, so many.

Nasty refrain: "I'll stick a gun in your face, You'll pay with your life" - Gunface (B2B, 1997).

Yeah, my 2 cents is "Gunface", but "Family" is a strong number two, just here these lyrics once again: "That his virgin daughter has bordello dreams,
And that he is the one she wants to try out
". In fact, there are too many to mention, but "Suck on The Jugular" is extremely nasty. -And these are family men?
Paul McCartney said he was happy that The Beatles didn`t leave such stuff after them.

Hand Of Fate is perhaps a wee bit nastier than Gunface?

I killed a man, I'm highway bound

Yeah, I gunned him twice
Yeah and I watched him die - watch out boy
Yeah, I watched him die

I shot that man, I put him underground
I put him underground, underground - yes I did

Yeah, you`re right. Maybe it was part of a retaliation, but that doesn`t help much. When Norwegians mention this song as "bra" (good), I have to think, -ehrm, do I really belong among these people? They can`t have heard the lyrics. However, it`s the best song on "Black and Blue".

Meh... That's Keef fantasizing about violence while he's been living in a cocoon of personal security since the 70's. Meh indeed...

In those days much of it was just the common attitudes of the times.

Mick's sensitivities in particular have perhaps evolved somewhat since then, with many later "nasty" lyrics being churned out, often a little tongue in cheek, because they fit the established image.

It's in my top 3 on BAB. Have to give a nod to Memory Motel, though.
