Just like with the Miami'94 PPV the rehearsal is better than the actual gig!

And Mick seems VERY VERY VERY happy to be here! He reminds me of President Macron on certain occasions... smoking smiley (snif!)

Coke jaw: 28:48. You can hear Jagger's voice cracking up already on the rehearsals. Stress, a cold, coke or a combination of those?

one thing I have always enjoyed seeing is how Mick really enjoys the sound of the Stones, displayed here as he dances to the music, guitar licks etc.

He also loves a camera filming his enjoyment.

What the hell happened to Mick's voice only a day later?

It happened here. You can hear his voice cracking up, and he's saving it by singing BOB an octave lower etc.

When you get a cold, it won't be better the next day smiling smiley

They lowered BOB to D for the SNL-show, btw.

Sitting on my desk now I have to work.
But then again - like a 100.000 times before since 50 years - a Stones-moment comes around the corner and I`m d-r-i-v-e-n away.
Never wanna be something else than a Stones fan.
Never-NEVER-Never-NEVER-Never-NEVER-Never be.

Do you want to know another Dress Rehearsal that is better than the actual concert ? Led Zeppelin @ The O2 Arena in 2007 , which is included as a bonus . Yes, they are pretty much standing around versus prancing and preening and such as during a live concert , but imho the rehearsal smokes and blows away the actual performance . I am glad they included the rehearsal .

Thanks I'll look into that.

Three words that would have saved John Belushi's life.

I've never seen that since I got the CD/DVD edition of just the show. I've never looked for it online.

Is this the key they played it in in 81?

I have a theory that the origins of Mick's barking 81 vocal style go back to their SNL appearance.

I don't know about that, ryanpow. In the SNL appearance he is clearly speeded on something. Add a cold and a lost voice on that. Stress, drugs and the flu. Something in that order.
His "barking" 81 voice was a product of the style he had then. Which he could afford then. The passing punk era maybe had something to do with it. Notice his 78 punk style of clothing.
His real voice problems started in the late 90s.

SNL is the only time they played it in D, as far as I know.

Whatever contributed to his voice being shot on the SNL perf. , I think I heard something it in he liked and it inspired his singing style on the next tour.

I remember being soooooooooooooooo disappointed when that SNL aired. After so much turmoil (Keith-heroin), and a dustup with Rolling Stone magazine, who panned the album and the tour, I was really expecting them to show the world how great they were. Yes, the rehearsal is what should have been.

Sure looks like it , but the Shepperton throws me off as i dont remember that and always thought it was at the O2 Arena . This is another thing i will have to look at as well when i get home . The camera angle looks right though as i don't remember close up shots of Page, Plant , Jones, and Jason Bonham .
