So, I'm reading in the local rag about Peter Frampton's upcoming memoir. There's a statement from the story that goes: "There are countless anecdotes involving Frampton's famous friends, from David Bowie to the Beatles, with Rolling Stones bassist Billy Wyman playing the teen guitar hero's musical wingman of sorts and members of the Who dangling the teen by his ankles from a fourth-story dressing room." I was like, what? Has this ever come up here before? Anyone care to elaborate?

IIRC, Bill writes about Frampton in his book Stone Alone.

Frampton also played on Entwistle's solo album 'Whistle Rhymes' (1972).

i remember only 1 song by him in the mid 70´s from a live album (can´t even remember the title) mainly popular with the girls because he was "so cute"

He even got lead vocals on a song or two - even though it was, by far, Bowie's worst tour. (Because it was 1987 and the band sounded thin and synth-poppy. Not to mention the distracting array of dancers and cheesy props. Bowie himself, sounded pretty good, though).

I remember being in the 7th grade when Frampton Comes Alive was released, and nearly everyone I knew loved it.
His downfall was the sappy single I'm in You that followed along with his involvement in the cheesy Sgt. Peppers movie.
Evidently Mick supposedly sings backup vocals on I'm in You, though I just listened via youtube and I can't hear him at all.
And I just read on wiki that Mick also sings backup on Tried to Love - not really a good tune by any stretch, but you can certainly hear Mick. > Tried to Love

One of the few concerts I actually left early was a Frampton one, at the peak of the Frampton Comes Alive period.

J Geils Band opened for Frampton in Vancouver. the reason we were there.
My fellow young teenage friends and I were certain it should have been the other way around.. (we weren't wrong).

J Geils Blew Our Face Out while we didn't exactly Feel Like (he) Do..

It's amazing how Full House , BYFO, Lou Reed's R & R Animal & Live came out roughly the same time Of course BYFO was a few years later but I hold that album on the same level as Full House -There are a couple of songs that share both Albums Yep a lot of great music during the early -mid 70s. Even the Four Tops and Temptations were still relevant in the mix!

I heard a Frampton interview once in which he credited Bill with giving him wise counsel when he was starting out.
My impression is that he was a very nice young man, who was well known before he was even 18, and Bill was sort of an uncle type figure. I think they met at a TV appearance.

I'm pretty sure Frampton could pull chicks without Uncle Billy's help!

Frampton is an excellent guitar player. Sure he made some career moves that overshadowed that as noted above, but that doesn't take away from his guitar skills.
