Finally Eric Clapton plays guitar without the backup of a 2nd guitarist and
piano/keyboard player. Its the best I have seen or heard EC play in many years.
Great DVD.

Just got the DVD and CD. Love them both.Good to see the Eric Clapton we all have come to love and respect back. The way he, Paul Mccartney and the Stones are playing we are going in a new Renaissance. Now The Who are supposedly going to record a new album and Jimmy Page is working on a much-over due 2nd solo album everything is well in the universe

I think this was broadcast on UK TV recently. I watched it in excited anticipation but I found the whole thing pretty flat. Perhaps you just had to be there but for me there was no real excitement in most of the songs they played apart from a couple of exceptions. Seemed like pure nostalgia which is ok I suppose but not a patch on Cream in their heyday. Audience was one of the dullest i have ever seen as well - must have been those £200 tickets

They played three shows in MSG (oct 25-27). Tried to get a ticket for the 26th but it was completely sold out. Think I will buy the DVD instead.

It may of been dull but its 3 muscians playing music and not posing or having
the crowd react to the stage show( STONES). maybe the crowd was actually watching
and appreciating the musicians playing their instruments. Its about the music
with cream and always has been with there short run as a band

I was there at one of the nights at the Albert hall. Great show but they seemed more like a very competant blues band than the band they were 40 years ago. There weren't any extended jams but it was good because they played so many songs instead.

It was broadcasted on BBC 4 over here in the UK. While it was great to see them on stage together and to hear those songs again, I found it to be dull. Clapton is undoubtidly still fantastic on guitar, but he sounds so tame at the same time. Why couldn't he of just put his Stratocaster away for one night and strapped on a Gibson?

It's nice to see them get back albeit for a short period. I had tickets at MSG,
but had to sell due to a friend's knee operation. I enjoyed the DVD from
Royal Albert Hall, and agree that some of the edge was missing...but let's face
it..that was then (when they were in their twenties) and this is now (60's+) Of
course they are not going to sound the same, but if I were Ginger and Jack, I
would be thanking Eric each day for the opportunity to get back in the limelight
again and with their health, I can't imagine a full tour.

I think this is supposed to be on PBS in the States at the end of November. I'll see it then. Not going to buy it. They won't tour, so screw 'em.

mr_c_ox said it - the aren't the band they were 40 years ago. Of course they aren't!! No band is! I saw Cream in 1968 and I hope to see the new DVD, but I don't at all expect them to be the band I saw back then. I am just glad that they are still alive and decided to do a few concerts, and apparently pulled it off without embarassing themselves!
