We've had GHS, We've had Steel Wheel Live, What's Next ?
Posted by: tomcasagranda ()

I'm wondering what's next.

We've had the Living In A Ghost Town single, we've had GHS remastered and reissued, and now the Steel Wheels Atlantic City set. I also purchased Voodoo Lounge Live In Japan which I love, but that was released in 2019. So, I'm wondering what's coming next ?

If they haven’t got enough finished-material for an album, an EP of what’s ready would be marvellous! It’d be their first EP since 1965!

A deluxe/expanded Love You Live with a two disc El Mocambo would be nice.

Won't happen as an EP would be seen as a display of weakness. Like "meh nothing new in 15 years and all they can come up with is a 4-song eunuch of an album!".

My guess is it will be a new 12-14 songs CD or... nothing at all, just tours and archive releases.

Four Flicks with extras? It was mentioned in the press release (Along with Atlantic City) anyway.

A Bigger Bang Shrinked...pressed on them tiny cd-singles that were popular for about a year in the early 90s - comes with a tiny tiny booklet

Good thought....also we dont have an official video release from the 50th anniversary or The Zip Code tour

Will we ever see an official release of the 2012 O2 Arena shows? Shouldn’t be a problem as they now seem ok with not airbrushing Bill.

No Filter Tour DVD/Blueray + 2 CD

i´ve been waiting for that since Xmas 2018, back than the tour was still in everybody´s head. could have been a big success - and a good support of the at that time upcoming 2019-2025 US Tour

Maybe...just maybe...a brand new album?!!! Or more realistically, maybe just another new single.
As for oldies and digging through the past, the live El Mocambo would be great. Other than that, more scrapings off the barrel...

I don't think they filmed a No Filter gig for a major release... sadly

Mocambo would be a fan favorite choice mixed by Eddie Kramer and not Bob C...but they’re probably gonna let these two new releases soak in for some months

In 2011, INXS basically did "covers" of their own material with different vocalists. The results were pretty good, in my opinion.

Keith has stated that songs are just babies when they get released on a new album. Then, Keith claimed -"We take em out (songs) on the road to grow them up!"
So, that's what I would like to see- the Stones recut some classic tracks.
I'd call the album WarHorses. I'd love to see how some of the songs "grew up."
It'd generate a ton of buzz with the which version is better? They could cut these tracks while rehearsing for the next tour.
My wishlist for WarHorses

1. Start Me Up
2. Beast Of Burden
3. Can't You Hear Me Knocking
4. JJF
5. Brown Sugar
6. Gimme Shelter
7. Monkey Man
8. Some Girls
9. Little Red Rooster
10.Rain Fall Down

Thoughts?

Of course every show is filmed for the screens but for a proper release like Hyde Park and Havanna you need way more cameras.

You mean, like we all said when they stuck 4 (mostly filler) songs on 40 Licks, 2 songs on Grrr! and put out an album of blues covers that they knocked off in 3 days because they ran out of inspiration when making their first new album in 18 years which still hasnt been finished five years on?

Yep.

What LPs make sense for future deluxe reissues? Given what they've put on them, let's call it a severe lack of accuracy, as well as what they haven't put on them, which is hugely disappointing, what would work?

EMOTIONAL RESCUE turned 40 recently. Perhaps a missed opportunity to not take advantage of that. There's plenty leftover they could've included, and, of course, I Think I'm Going Mad. They could even reissue what they put on the SOME GIRLS deluxe to help fill it out since they like doing that kind of thing.

They could release Not The Way To Go, Mick could finish I'll Let You Know; What Gives You The Right maybe. Lonely At The Top would be hilarious. Still In Love.

Undoubtedly a few others. They could always litter it up like they did with SG deluxe and put a bunch of rather bland blues (covers) on.

I'd really like to see a proper 1972 Tour Release focused on Philly Special and including rare nuggets like Uptight / Satisfaction and the other good soundboard recordings from NY and elsewhere.

How about a two-terabyte flash drive with everything Rolling Stones that you can possibly imagine!!!

Pictures, videos, movies, all the albums and then some. Outtakes galore. 67,435 pictures. Every single piece of promo material they ever did! More flacs than you can throw a stick at. 147 archived and searchable gigabytes of iorr.org. (You can search on "Doxa" and be in heaven!)

The Stones universe!

And some of you will buy it and then be waiting for the deluxe edition... hot smiley

Munich 2003

Absolutely ... a brand new album! A tour? Won't see that happen easily in 2021.
And Munich 2003 ... I hope you mean Zirkus Krone, because that was "top of the bill"!
