Nearly 2 Years ago September 24th,2018...Toots and The Maytals Played there 1st Concert in Prague ...A most Joyous night of Music! The Crowd was well into as Was Toots a Great Performer and the Maytals a most solid Band..I was near the Front of Stage and got 5 Fist-Bumps from Toots!!!!! Was hoping at one point to see them again but alas it will not be in The Year of good-byes...Sleep well Toots you were a King among Men.Peace

Sad news indeed. His concerts were joyous occasions. Bags of energy. Saw Toots and the Maytals live three times, and I don't think I've ever danced and sweated as much. Scottish crowds loved him and I can still picture a big smile on his face .....

He was a good friend of mine and I will miss him dearly. Never could have seen this coming even a month ago. So sad...

A big man right to the end of his days. He is reunited with his best friend, manager and producer, Mike Cacia now.

I saw them twice I think. One in time before the Stones and the other occasion they were headliner in a clubshow in my town.

What I remember him and the band for is the positive uplifting vibe he had in him (with the band) Great positive energy.

Wow, dang.. Fortunate to have seen him/them at the Greek in LA late 80s

Was so hoping he'd pull through & be able to continue spreading the reggae soul to us for years to come.

We were extremely fortunate to see him open for the Roots, Rock, Reggae Festival at the Chill on Kingsbury (Chicago) in '04. Toots & The Maytals plus the Marleys all on the same stage (if I remember correctly, Rita may have made an appearance that night also) on a beautiful Chicago night with a limited sized audience... doesn't get much better than that!

Oh damn....very sad...
Fortunate to have seen him many times since the late '70's- headlining his own shows, and opening for the Stones.
Always exciting and memorable, especially when he headined in small venues, though that special energy carried over in massive stadiums also.
Took my wife to see him at a small theater a couple of weeks after I first met her, and he converted her in to a reggae fan w/his mesmerizing charisma and overall stage presence.

Worth watching start to finish - turning a three minute tune on record in to a nine + minute live tour de force w/ a wild three minute intro - the gospel according to Toots.
