The story to which bleedingman linked about the mayor of Nashville supposedly covering up statistics on transmission rates in bars was based on a Fox News story. The Fox News story was FALSE and has been retracted.

Musicians in Nashville are most likely going to file a class action lawsuit against the mayor, who blatantly lied to the public and inflated transmission rates in bars and restaurants. The evidence is plain and clear. I doubt he's the only one guilty of this:

Thank you. It would have made zero sense for this particular mayor to be falsely inflating numbers.

Thank God. It was so stupid initially that this is not any surprise. Seemingly some people are ready to do anything to promote their agenda.

How refreshing to see a famous person echo what many around the world feel. Good for him. I hope more come out and agree. Covid is way overblown by the panic porn media.
Overblown? I’ll be sure to tell that to my best friend who just lost his mother. Oh and I’ll tell that to my other good friend whose father has it, Sister has it, and Son has it! Oh and maybe I’ll tell that to my cousin who just lost his wife! Overblown? Where do you live? Reminds me of the song idiot wind by Bob Dylan. You’re such an idiot it’s a wonder you can even breathe.

I find the emails and the data regarding the spread in clubs and bars suspect, "retraction" aside. Regarding "Faux News", this past week there was a kerfuffle when Newt Gingrich was shut down on a Fox show when he portrayed George Soros in a negative light. Fox is slowly realigning its agenda. We shall see.

Speaking of Nashville, I just watched a Joe Bonamassa PPV from the Ryman Theater and it was a lot of fun. Stellar mix, editing (each musician got to shine), and well worth the $20, in my opinion. No ZOOM, a professionally shot show that other artists should think about. I'd pay a decent amount for a Stones theater PPV.

Maybe all these Van fans can all go to the show together, packed in tightly on the rail, breathing each other's air as a scientific experiment. Something like an indoor Sturgis or OKC rally.

Odds taken at an online casino. I'll take the over.

Most artists get it.

Or maybe it's possible he's onto something. There's no vaccination yet, why are they starting to open up bars, restaurants, schools, etc.? Oh, it's possible they should have never shut them down and just practice distancing like several other counties -- with success rate no worse than countries that shut it all down.

Not sure if you are even aware what you're posting. That proves the point actually. Social Distancing does NOT mean shut everything down.

The Nation Wanted to Eat Out Again. Everyone Has Paid the Price.
Governments and restaurant owners wanted to get back to business. But bars and restaurants have become a focal point for clusters of Covid infections.

"Across the United States this summer, restaurants and bars, reeling from mandatory lockdowns and steep financial declines, opened their doors to customers, thousands of whom had been craving deep bowls of farro, frothy margaritas and juicy burgers smothered in glistening onions.

But the short-term gains have led to broader losses. Data from states and cities show that many community outbreaks of the coronavirus this summer have centered on restaurants and bars, often the largest settings to infect Americans.

In Louisiana, roughly a quarter of the state’s 2,360 cases since March that were outside of places like nursing homes and prisons have stemmed from bars and restaurants, according to state data. In Maryland, 12 percent of new cases last month were traced to restaurants, contact tracers there found, and in Colorado, 9 percent of outbreaks overall have been traced to bars and restaurants"

Obviously there will be cases. Again not the point ... be safe, but still live your life.

Similar to what I stated before - If we're looking for zero cases, then we have to consider the "flu" too, which can/does also kill. Let's shut everything down permanently then and be done w/ it.

50,000 cases a day in the US with a 2% mortality doesn't sound so bad.

If it was 5,000 cases a day with robust contact tracing and everyone wore masks wherever possible it might work.

I was in NY in March and either caught it at a concert at Madison Square Garden, a bar, a restaurant or on the subway. in For those who agree with Van, tell me how it goes after you catch it. We can compare notes on how much fun it is.

On the bright side, the our planet could benefit from sloughing off a few million/billion people.

Maybe an environmental or wildlife protection organization will back Van.

I agree with Van!

I have been an ardent Van Morrison fan since the early 1980s, owning most of his records and many, many bootlegs, attending many concerts, but this does not mean that everything he does, says (and puts on record) is really a classic. What he says about Covid is wrong and reckless!

I can understand that at 75 he suffers by not being able to perform like he was used to. But then, this goes for everyone who does public activities (including me, by the way). In some way or another the Corona pandemy keeps hurting all of us, and most probably will do so for a long time to come.

But over here in Germany we have relatively decent numbers of Covid infections compared to other countries because scientists, politicians and other responsible people were on the alert from the beginning but at the same time stayed calm and relied on medical science. And we have public TV and radio which all in all did factual broadcasts. Most of all, most of the people trusted that the attention and the uncomfortable, even sometimes troublesome limitations were necessary to fight the pandemy.

Therefore, in this respect the great artist Van Morrison is not really the Man!

This incident, of course, doesn't take anything away from Sir George Ivan. He's one the great ones. No doubt about that. Just listen to this one, or any other song, from this grand master:

I wish we were in agreement on this.. strong believer in science and facts here, and I'd give him a pass over it in the future.

Based on the amount of social media "cancelling" this latest has created, with no doubt more to come with his releases etc, afraid it definitely has taken a lot away from him.

Hope I'm wrong, but doesn't look likely.

No sickness if fun. I've had pneumonia once and it was 100 times worse. I got covid most likely from my brother and wife, we all had slight headaches, cold symptoms, loss of taste/smell for a week or so. As a matter of fact, most times i get the flu it is worse. Obviously all cases are different ... none of that matters to the point. If you're worried about sickness, you might as well just stay isolated for life.
