OT- Van Morrison launches a campaign to “save live music”
Posted by: MisterDDDD ()
Date: August 25, 2020 21:09

Oddly enough, read this article via a link posted by Andrew Loog Oldham on twitter..
[twitter.com]

"Van Morrison has denounced the supposed “pseudoscience” around coronavirus and is attempting to rally musicians in a campaign to restore live music concerts with full capacity audiences.

The 74-year-old Northern Irish singer launched a campaign to “save live music” on his website, saying socially distanced gigs were not economically viable. “I call on my fellow singers, musicians, writers, producers, promoters and others in the industry to fight with me on this. Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up,” he said.

Morrison is due to play socially distanced gigs in England next month, but he said this did not signify agreement with restrictions to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, which has claimed more than 800,000 lives worldwide."

*apologies in advance if this violates the no covid thread policy.
Find it interesting that Van is lobbying for full capacity concerts and urging others to do the same.. )

Van is a big idol of mine. In a way more so than the Rolling Stones. He's truly a genuine artist. And a bard and poet too. In many way in a class of his own.
But that doesn't keep him from being an idiot also. That isn't unusual with great artists.

...and meanwhile, on the bottom of a swimming pool at Villa Nellcotte, lies a vinyl recording...

Perfect for Van Morrison, Did he not always socially distance himself from the audience.?

He has no problem performing sick. I saw him the day after Desert Trip in SF and he was really sick, blowing his nose and spreading germs between every song.

That's too bad, I will miss him.

He used to live down the road from a friend of mine in San Anselmo. Used to always yell at neighborhood kids to get the hell off his lawn.

VM is almost dead, so he doesn't give a damn about us music lovers. Maybe he gets washed from the stage like in Nijmegen ... sad mind.

Did someone say San Anselmo? World class crank but when he's good, he's very good indeed...

Has the man figured out how to accomplish this without insurance? I’d be surprised if he can get coverage.

Maybe there are religious motives behind the statement? Sir Ivan is a very religious man. If you listen to his lyrics you'll understand what I'm talking about...

Unfortunately looks like Van is yet another high profile covidiot. Hopefully he doesn't find out first hand about the seriousness of the virus. He is no spring chicken and also no stranger to a fish supper.

What about Ted Nugent? Has he made any statements? Or is he retired?

I'm not trying to make fun of somebody's faith but it is interesting that he believes in Jesus Christ but does not believe in the pandemic. I guess it is because pandemic is a novelty.
I have a friend like that and I'm really not sure if I should tell him that he is an idiot (for not believing in pandemic). Facts don't work on such people so I can skip the part of persuading.

How refreshing to see a famous person echo what many around the world feel. Good for him. I hope more come out and agree. Covid is way overblown by the panic porn media.

Does he still play guitar anymore? Not even on the county fair circuit.

Is Brown Eyed Girl the most played pop song in history over the radio waves?

Not sure but I read it somewhere. Of course I don't know if this includes modern music media. Anyone know?
