Those red RS No. 9 Carnaby Str. vinyl sound better not because of the color but because they have extra outer plastic sleeve. That sleeve adds more warmth and makes the sound more vacuum tube-like.

thumbs up .... and it sounds even better when the Moon is at its zenith.

I have a vinyl like that size, I think it's 15". They don't play on regular turntables, they were made for radio stations and had commercials and long play shows on them.

Kinda cool but I can't even play the one I have.

I should have read the thread more carefully to see the post about IORR Red just before I posted. The IORR released announcement completely bypassed me, oops.

If anyone has a spare IORR Red that they want to trade for an album earlier in the Red series, I have one spare of each of the LPs below:

Black And Blue
Some Girls
Blue & Lonesome
Tattoo You

Please PM me.

Cheers,
SonicD

Me too , and an email from DHL ; € 30 import duty /tax

Ordered 2 tank tops last week, ( XL and XXL ), courier costs 18 Euro = 78 Euro all together.

Also received an email from DHL : 33 Euro import duty/tax !!

Do I really have to pay that ?
In my order it says that VAT is included for the Netherlands ( 13 Euro ).

My goodness : 2 tanktops ( to be sure that one of them fits ) = 111 Euro eye popping smiley

You should not pay VAT twice. However, with recent changes in EU legislation regarding VAT strange things happened.

You can check detailed explanation of the changes here
[ec.europa.eu]

If RS9 shop is associated with ioss, they should inform DHL and generate special postage label that will indicate somewhere (in barcode???) that VAT was paid on site of purchase and the parcel should go free through the customs. Amazon does that. ebay and discogs also collect VAT on site and generate special labels for sellers. This does not work not all the times, though. There is always 'human factor' and misunderstanding within post services.

Please keep in mind that in some countries and for some post services VAT should be collected not only on the value of the product but also on postal costs. This was enforced since January 1, 2022, for CTT in Portugal. If the shop did not collect VAT on postal costs, CTT will do it at arrival and charge extra for custom clearance (and VAT on extra charge for custom clearance).

Some post services charge ridiculous amounts for custom clearance. If I am not mistaken, VAT in The Netherlands is ~20%. You purchase is 78€. This means DHL charge you some 18-17€ for custom clearance atop of 15-16€ VAT payment.

You can contact DHL and send them an invoice form RS9 shop to prove that you already payed VAT onsite and should be exempt from the charges. But this discussion can take long. And if it will exceeds certain period (30 days???) you will be forced not only pay VAT/customs but also DHL storage fee (and VAT on that fee).

Otherwise, pay the amount DHL sent you and contact RS9 shop with DHL invoice for VAT reimbursement. In that case you should explain them that VAT was collected twice due to their fault.

Both scenarios are not perfect and time consuming. The second one works with ebay for sure. But it takes time and nerves.

You can also contact urbansteel here and ask him. He had similar situation some time ago (with a package from Japan) and solved it somehow. He was on Dutch TV with that case winking smiley.

Maybe your local customs office can also help in this case?

Hardly. Customs delegated a part of their duties to local post operators who collect VAT at arrival. Usually, customs just approve the bills/quotations that are presented but hardly dig into details. In any case, it is necessary to deal with post operator first, they will not pass the package to the customs w/o payment.

In past I made a few big CD orders from Japan. In that case I got cards to come to the local post station to pick the parcel and to pay customs there. Once or twice I figured out the ridiculous customs/postal payments in the last moment at the post office. Like - here is your parcel, but you can not get it unless you pay extra €€€.

These days everything can be done online. But still, I never saw or talk to customs officer, just post service workers. And all custom clearance goes through the web site of post operator.

Here is information on cdjapan site. They are almost ready for ioss
[www.cdjapan.co.jp]

And this is about extra charges
[www.cdjapan.co.jp]

The problem rollingrichard is, most probably, in miscommunication between RS9 shop and DHL. Either RS9 shop generated wrong postal label / custom declaration and did not include a mark that VAT was payed, or DHL just follow 'their usual routine' without checking the label. Otherwise, RS9 shop did not configure profile/register with ioss properly.

I've done in the meantime some googling about double-paid VAT as well as the local customs office and found a discussion in the German section of [www.Discogs.com] , [www.Discogs.com] . If there's no proof that the seller has really paid the VAT to the tax office of the recipient country (or digitally via the Import One Stop Shop, IOSS) then the local customs cannot/doesn't do a refund afterwards.
