Regarding the Sticky Fingers red vinyl, saw this on Facebook:

Quote

I ordered this only to wake up this morning to read an email
saying my order was cancelled when I had already paid and received confirmation.
I spoke to universal who’s phone number is 0845 0527506 and they said the label had cancelled the order. Saying there was a problem with the vinyl.
I said ‘what about the copies being sold on eBay’?
This is. F kin joke.

Another one:

Quote

Had my order cancelled.
Rang your HQ and was told ‘the vinyl was not pressed correctly’
Not very happy seeing as there’s loads on EBay for stupid prices.

Could these cancellations be part of the reason they released more for "pre-order" yesterday?

The copy I ordered yesterday is not released until 31 December. Could be this is a new batch where the pressings are improved. Let's hope so and my order will not be cancelled.

It also now appears some orders were cancelled because the buyer exceeded a limit!

Quote from an email a buyer got:

Quote

I am afraid the order was cancelled at the request of the Record Label in fairness to other customers as you ordered multiple copies.

We may reject orders for any reason.
Many thanks,

Jon

Thanks for the heads up.

I bet the cancelled orders are exactly why we saw the small drop yesterday.
Had two in the cart on the original sale, now kind of glad it didn't go through.

Was curious about the 12-31 release date as well, believe the original release date was 12-28, I thought the difference may be because I was having it shipped to the US as it appears in confirmation to be shipping from US store, even though purchased on UK site.

Noticed on a few of the listings on Ebay that the product wasn't in hand, but would ship when the seller received it.
Betting cancellations are skrewing up a few of those sales winking smiley

I wonder how did they find the disc was not pressed correctly? And how they suppose to track faulty discs w/o looking at the matrix?
Guess, in the case of 900 copies it is easier totally recall the pressing run but not mess with cherry picking.

Not sure I get the 'vinyl was not pressed correctly' line........Was that only the 500 for mail order? Were the 500 for sale at the Carnaby Street shop 'pressed correctly'?!

My orderstatus:

Thursday, December 3, 2020 7:57:06 PM
Ordernumber: XXXXXXXX
Order Total: €48.10
Confirmed
Delivery 1 of 1 Pending 1 The Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers (Carnaby Street Exclusive Stones Red Vinyl) (Half Speed Master 180g Vinyl), 1 Classic Licks Keychain

Interesting that the total is more than the cost I got yesterday ordering from the US. Paid $43 US (with shipping) where the €48.10 would be about $58.
Perhaps the "free" keychain wasn't deducted yet?

They were sold out when ordering yesterday winking smiley

Of that I have no idea. I'm just quoting what people commented on Facebook.

So the original eSale was due to ship on 28/12 vs 31/12 for yesterday's ? Why the delay (assuming our later date account for possible "re-pressing") since they sold them in the store yesterday...

@MisterDDDD - Where are you seeing in your confirmation that it will ship from the US Store ?

I thought I had seen a US shipping confirmation somewhere, but now believe I must have just assumed that because of the three day difference and the relatively low shipping costs.

Delivery 1 of 1

Release Date 31 December 2020 US$33.00
Sub-Total US$33.00
Delivery Charge US$10.63
Order total US$43.63
VAT included US$0.00
Final Total US$43.63

Good marketing for this..

Not gonna join in with the whine & snivel about everything crowd, ...what should have been better/different, but making it an in-store exclusive would have been better cool smiley

I took four years of Latin way back when but had to look it up

Pecunia non olet - Wikipediaen.wikipedia.org › wiki › Pecunia_non_olet

Pecunia non olet ("money does not stink") is a Latin saying. The phrase is ascribed to the Roman emperor Vespasian (ruled AD 69–79).

Let em eat cake.

Good marketing for this..

Haha... Technically, if the idea is to buy an album one already owns (in many copies I think) and the only difference is that of being red... does it actually matter if the album is EXILE ON MAIN STREET or DIRTY WORK? For collectors and true fans all the Stones albums are equal...

But the question arises: might this new version of HONK include "Living In A Ghost Town" like its streaming versions nowadays do? Now that would make a difference...grinning smiley

It could be that if I ever visit - if Covid or Brexit or whatever allows - London again and visit this store, I might purchase this red HONK for a souvenir - why not, since I don't even own the album.

Wondering if we should expect the entire catalogue to be released in "Carnaby Red".
They'll probably make more money this way than if they were to release an album of new material - unless they released a red version of that also.
What I'd really like is a 7" single of Paint it Black in red vinyl, and then I can sing along "I see a red disc, and I want it painted black".

Haven't compared to the deluxe cd set (same?) but only see a two vinyl offering prior to this.. course haven't researched much.
Personally, I like these releases as I have very little vinyl, and leaning towards keeping it that way, buying primarily special releases and a few faves.

A latest greatest hits special edition has me reaching for my wallet with that criteria. Going to wait and see about a potential future sale (Boxing Day?) but may end up with this.. Although $59 isn't too bad out of the gate imo.
