OT: Talking about remixes...

...Here is one you hear everywhere now (at least here in Sweden): Whats's Love Got To Do With It, Tina Turner's hit from 1984. Tina who t-u-r-n-e-d 80 last year.
Mixed by Kygo (not a Japanese but Norwegian apparently, Kyrre Görvell-Dahll). Debuted at #7 on the Dance/Electronic list with 2.6 million US streams so far.
Here it is:

Sure, Rockman. The video doesn't exactly measure up to Peter Gabriel's or Björks' efforts in the genre. To say the least. But since it's aimed for dance/electronica I think the video comes second.
Just a market tool. The song? Of course the original is better but the remix is pretty effective. Hence the radio/stream success?

The reason I posted this Tina Turner/Kygo remix is a) because it's having heavy radio rotation here (maybe elsewhere too?) b) it would be interesting to compare with the two new Stones remixes.
Even though they are outtake remixes. Tinas's song is frequently played - I don't know if that's the fact with the Stones remixes also?
You want to listen to Tina's remix? See the first post in this thread.

This is one of the few Kygo-tracks that didn't make the Billboard Hot 100.

Why did he wipe off the middle eight, btw? Sacrilege.

Sure Dandy, I'm not that impressed either. I do wonder why I hear it so much on radio though. But maybe that's just a coincidence? I think the kids have
another perspective though since they have, probably, never heard the original. 1984 is stone age to them...

He's huge (as is Tina), that's why smiling smiley released just a few weeks ago, methinks.

Maybe Kygo could do a Miss You remix or something, put the Stones back in the charts some day

Back in the charts? At least here in Germany they just had their best chart position since Jumping Jack Flash.

Yep, that was my thoughts also. They seem to have bad luck when it comes to collaborations. I don't think Tina had much to do with this remix either.
Kygo probably just contacted her, or her representatives, and asked if it was okey to do a remix of the song...

Why must it be a montage - covid-19?

Tina is 80. On the picture she looks around 40. Kygo wasn't even born then...

I don't think so, Dandy. This is how she looked last year when she turned 80. Very young for her age still.

I was thinking which Stones song would be most suitable for this kind of dance/electronica treatment. Someone said Miss You? Maybe. It's an excellent way to reach a younger audience.
Move Like Jagger was a big hit in 2011. And that wasn't even a Stones song. Jagger complained about not getting any royalties. If they want to reach the kids - this is the way to go.

This is what a remix should sound like in 2020.

A song written and released in 2020, remixed by a producer/artist who has been at the top of his game with every album for two decades.

As always - play loud on good speakers, or good headphones.

Did Jagger complain? I must have missed that. I'd like to know more.

Sorry, didn't check my facts properly. Or fake news as Mr T would have put it. It was a joke rather. On Letterman's top ten list. Sorry for the poor video quality:[www.youtube.com]
