Either I've seen it before, or it's just real similar to another professional photo. It's Mick Taylor's pose and shirt that I recognize.

I noticed the same thing. There is a well-known Jim Marshall photo (I can´t find it online at the moment) which looks almost exactly the same and must have been taken only a few seconds before/after this shot from the same location. Keith is smiling and looking over Mick Taylor´s shoulder.

I checked my Jim Marshall Stones 72 Book, and there is no photo like the one Vibrolux took, only a black and white one featuring MT alone and wearing the same outfit. but you 're right Jim Marshall should have been not far from Vibrolux.

You are right though, this photo does not appear in Jim Marshall´s 1972 Tour book.

Wow! He must have been standing right in front me. And Charlie is facing the exact same way in both pictures.

Wow. I think you found me, or at least part of me. There are four people right in front of the stage, just to the right of Keith. I'm just behind the guy closest to Keith. You really can't see much of me, but I totally recognize the guy I went with next to me. He's right between that same guy and the girl next to him.

I'm pretty obscured in this, but it's the most of me I've ever seen. Thank you! At least I can send my friend the pic. He'll love it.

Well, you can see my friend with the glasses and the shiny shirt right between that guy and the girl. And a sliver of my head next to him closer to Keith. Here's the pic we took right before we left for the show. I'm the guy on the right with the very uncool hair.

I think the Stones were at their peak in 1972--musically, visually, and as a (counter) cultural force. Mick and Keith turn 29 that year and you see the confidence of youth intersecting with the swagger of experience.

Your pictures capture the energy and excitement of that moment.

I'm curious: Did you shoot more than one roll of film? If so, was it distracting to change rolls in the middle of a show? Was taking pictures a primary focus for you, or something that you did off and on during the show?

I know I shot 2 or 3 rolls. I was able to do a pretty quick reload. I definitely went to see the show. But at various times, I'd shoot several shots, then return to being there.

Looking back, I guess I had pretty balanced priorities for an 18 year old.
