Artwork by Josh Agle, "Shag."

Love the Stones, love mid-century art, hate this.

Definitely not a "stones" print. At least the guy had the good sense to keep their name outta his mouth.
Bobby Womack's estate could sue him though.

Well, MisterDDDD copped to the same idea I did when looking at the print - what about Bobby Womack? The print itself, IMO, looks like the kind of animation/artwork used on the cartoon series Scooby-Doo.

well it has a good 60’s club vibe - which was certainly the intent. As a piece
of art I think it’s fine.

If it were done back in the mid 60s I would think it was pretty kool. For a latter day piece, I think its too trendy faux-nostalgia. Kind of nice illustration of the Stones though, I must say. Needs Ian Stewart in the background though.

Lighthearted and fun w/nice colors - looks like a party I'd like to be at right now dancing with that blonde gal up front, or corner stage next to the dark haired gal, or maybe even the dark haired gal far left.
Cool painting and you can get lost in it while your imagination runs wild - I think it's great.

That's funny, I was thinking of The Archie's, but yes, looks about the same. I'll pass.

Nice print but I don't think it's worth $1100 US. I can picture this being at a filming of Ready Steady Go with the band playing The Last Time or Satisfaction!

I like the print.... but there's something about the exclusivity of this item (and don't start me on VIP gig tickets for stupid prices) that is at odds with what rock and roll was supposed to be about in the first place.

Is the point of owning this print to enjoy the art... or to revel in the bragging rights that you're the only (overpaid) kid on the block who owns one??

I'd be delighted with a simple poster of it for £25.

>what rock and roll was supposed to be about in the first place.

To sell records to adolescent troublemakers and other self styled rebels?

Cause thats what the music business is all about, just like the art business.

There's an edition of 200, so you would not feel so all alone being the only kid on the block who owns one.
That said, while I do like the retro/cartoonish image of the print, I'd settle for a decent quality poster of it also for about $20.00 max.
The limited print seems a bit pricey imo, no matter that it's hand signed/numbered, framed, matted, limited to 200, etc., etc., etc.

Never heard of Josh Agle aka "Shag" until now, but evidently he's made quite a name for himself with his retro themed work.

> Josh Agle

"Agle has had more exhibitions at various galleries in the United States, Japan, Australia and Europe. He had his first solo gallery exhibition in 1997,and his first New York gallery show in 2002.In 2009, he opened a "SHAG Store" in Palm Springs, which sells merchandise depicting Agle's works. A second Shag Store was opened in Hollywood in October 2015.He is also known for designing Tiki mugs.
Shag has designed projects for The Walt Disney Company and the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, as well as a 100-foot-long mural in the Georgia Aquarium"

And no doubt he's been quite prolific throughout his career: Josh Agle
