Perennial 70's openng act and underdogs who definitely deserve their spot not the least for pioneering the sound The Eagles took to the bank..Randy Meisner, Jim Messina and Timothy Schmidt all went on to major success...they could play and sing circles around almost everyone but just couldnt write hits.

They are a perfect example of a band I think would go in a Very Good Hall Of Fame and not a truly great one. Great band, I like a lot of their stuff. Wouldn't think they belong in a true Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Over Madonna, Janet Jackson, etc? Absolutely. But they go along with guys like Cheap Trick and T Rex and the Zombies to me that are great bands, but you aren't a Hall Of Fame band.

I think I would tend to agree. But the HOF is pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel with some of the nominees in the past. Poco was pretty good, short lived in its original form but nothing real standout in my mind. Couple of pretty good albums at the time. Even with homeboy Schmidt on bass, maybe the country western hall of fame might be more fitting.

The problem will the hall of fame is that they induced to many artist per year. Some years 10 or more artist got in. How many do pro sports let in? Half of that.

Right, but I guess my opinion has always been "then why don't we end the hall?" as opposed to "how do we get literally EVERYONE in then?" I get the idea that its already trash, so put in people like Slade or something. But also like, why not just end the hall now and just say "we ruined it." At this point, why does it even really matter if a band like Poco went in? There used to be an honor of going in. That honor was taken away, and now everyone shits on the Hall, but they still want their favorite bands in. At this point, I'd just think its cooler if Jethro Tull never got in. That seems more rock and roll. So everyone is always trying to make it better. You can't, they ruined it. I'd go the other way and just close it at this point, not put every very good band in.

I agree. Those Halls of Fame made a joke of themselves. At the beginning they noticed it turns out to be a popular concept but then commercialism takes over and the whole thing turns into sh*t, just like MTV at some point.
But as long as a reasonable number op people like it and "the money comes in", well, it's bread and butter for some winking smiley

No smileys in the subject, please. As per the moderator's rules, they are unwanted here. They disturb the view of the the entire Message List. Thanks mate.

BTW, what is tongue sticking out smileyoco? No clickbait fishing, please.

I am sure the OP did not mean to put a smiley in the subject, it was taken as that with the colon adjacent to the "P" makes that stick its tongue out at you smiley.

It meant to say: OT: Poco for The RnR Hall of Fame. Thats what it says in the subject line right above the reply box i am using to reply. Putting the colon right next to the "P" caused the smiley, but I am repeating myself now.

RnR Hall of Fame was done a long time ago. Stick a fork in it and call off the election, we are done here.

I once saw Poco recording a song for one of their albums in about 1977. A friend's sister worked for Warner Brothers in LA at the time and got us into the studio. Something I'll never forget.
