Who, a number of you are asking? He composed one of the most popular songs ever back in the early 1960s. The song was seemingly everywhere on the radio back then. Some of us will easily remember it. An earworm extraordinaire.

One of my very early pre-British Invasion music memories. My mother played it all the time on LP and on our piano. I was 8 or 9.

His album covers were more interesting than the easy listening pop instrumental schlock contained in the record grooves. He may have had his 15 minutes, but talk about being relegated to the dust bins of history. 15 years of owning my record shop and maybe one or two sales of his records, if that.

Classic tune. Has a warm and open spirit that transcends all boundaries.

That may be so in the USA.
Not in Denmark, where he is a household name.
The ‘Alley Cat’ theme is a small percentage of the guy’s history.
It was a one-hit-wonder in America and earned him a Grammy. However, Fabric didn’t even turn up to get it as he thought the nomination was a joke and he had been put on.
His base has always been in Denmark where he composed film themes. And most of them is iconic pieces to the movies he wrote them for. A kind of Danish John Williams.
