Just seen this on BBC News.

Passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 73.

In the 60's it was Peter Green or Eric Clapton as to who was the best British guitarist.

He was absolutely brilliant in the early Fleetwood Mac days.

R.I.P. Peter Green.

He may have been the finest guitarist I have ever heard.

Some say that his mental break in 70 was because he got too close to God......

I dunno, but I know that the Fleetwood Mac stuff with Peter Green is as good as it gets.

Caught him 20 years ago on Sunset in LA with Mayall; always felt lucky to have made it. He deserved to be better known.

Not sure who edited my post (the first post ) by adding a link to the BBC plus a picture plus adding to the title of my post.......but I wish to let that person know (whoever they are )......don’t change my posts, make your own post.

Peter Green was not co-founder of Fleetwood Mac....it was his band and he chose first Mick Fleetwood and invited him to join him, he also chased John McVie and persuaded him to join when Bob Brunning left, and he gave the band its name.
If you invite people to join in your idea that is not co-founding.

Peter Green was an exceptional, unique guitarist who could draw out the emotion from the instrument like no one else. In 1968 I spent an evening standing 5 metres in front of him while he played through the whole range of his abilities at his peak.....no one else has come close to his range....not Clapton, BB, Buddy, Jimi or Stevie Ray. Maybe Gary Moore came closest?

In 2003 I met Peter and he was quiet, withdrawn and seemed in another place.....his music gave so much pleasure I hope he finds peace.

Below the post you can see who added or changed it.

I'm sure he had no bad intention but on the other hand it's your post ;o)

Man the greats really are are leaving us now, it really brings things into focus when you hear about such legends passing. Peter Green has always been this mythical, monolithic talent that shaped the sound of British rock music and influenced countless, endless bands in his wake. Peter was an exceptionally emotive, tasteful and distinctive player, his passing is a huge loss and I will miss his beautiful playing. RIP to a true legend of rock music.

RIP Peter- What a player, precise, delicate tone, playing the slow blues, with great pharsing and was in it for the music, he even named the band after two bandmates.

Then Play On and Kiln House were Fleetwood Mac at their finest, imo.

Peter Green, Danny Kirwin, Jeremy Spencer were a powerhouse, even though Green didn't play on Kiln House, it seemed like it contained his spirit.

I caught them before Then Play On came out, they were playing a lot of that material. I forget exactly when this was but at this little dive in Sacramento called The Sound Factory, a 4 band bill, "British invasion" I believe it was titled: Jethro Tull (right after releasing first album I think), Pink Floyd (immediately post-Sid Barrett), Fleetwood Mac and headlined by Savoy Brown.

What a line up and I was immediately most impressed with the guitar lineup of the Mac.

Some really great comments towards the amazing talent that was Peter Green in his prime. A truly gifted player that let the guitar translate his personal joy and in particular his deep inner blues. A powerful blues guitar player that created notes that could bring tears. His heartfelt vocals were awesome too. What a band the Greeny led Mac was! Wow, I’m so sad to hear he’s gone yet it did not seem he suffered badly in the end.
RIP Peter Green

This describes him perfectly.

The Stones were always my favourite band, but Peter Green was always my favourite guitar player.

Thank you for everything, Peter. RIP
