Charlie and his vintage car collection
Posted by: Carnaby ()

Charlie said in an interview he has four vintage cars. Which vintage cars are in his collection?

From memory I'm sure I read
that one of them is an early model Bugatti ....

Wouldn't believe that source. But I guess I have to find out myself. Maybe google will help me?

After a bit of googling: The only one I can confirm is the 2CV. There is lot of info about Bill's cars, very little about Charlie's...

Yeah... not a lot out there.. probably better off searching this site tbh, but I couldn't find much here either.

I didn't link, but all of the still photos of his cars were from different sources. The video matched the still photos from the various sites (none with any relevant info on them) so I felt pretty confident they were legit, but I should have clarified.

I'm sure there must be more info on the cars somewhere.. but with Charlie being so private, perhaps not.

Top 10 Celeb Car Collections, #7-Charlie Watts !!

"Perhaps the most chemically pure of the Rolling Stones (no major feat), Charlie Watts is possibly the most eccentric (now that’s saying something). As bandmate Ronnie Wood describes, Watts has a hugely enviable car collection, yet no licence to drive. He has suits tailored to each car’s character, which he wears when he sits in them and listens to the sounds of the engines. So if and when Watts’ lot is offered at auction, you can at least be assured of low-mileage examples with no foul weather exposure."

Charlie's Lamborghini Miura (67-73) takes the Top prize. Since he doesn't drive, then they are artwork/investments to him if all he enjoys is "sitting in the back & listening to music".

Cars Owned By The Rolling Stones (& Where They Are Now)

#1. Keith Richards - (Dino 246GT one of my all-time favs) 1972 Ferrari Dino 246GT - Sold At Auction In 2018. 2nd only to Charlie's Lambo.

#2 Mick Jagger 1965 Aston Martin DB6 (The original James Bond car, I believe Bond had the '64 though). - Mick Crashed One Year Later

Near the Bugatti, it's the Citroën SM high-performance coupé.

Hard to find info about his cars. The only thing I know is that he owns or has owned a Citroën CV2 and a Citroën SM. Pictures above are generic. That site is not trustworthy.

So you've said. Not just one site though as you may (or may not) have read in my earlier reply.
Glad to hear you're convinced they're generic though... any source for that?? (your opinion is not trustworthy) Any at all.. seen them? A link?...
Lol.

DDDD: Well one source is the one you have taken the pictures from: [ultimate-luxury-community.com]. If you read that page you will see that those cars are not Charlie's.
My educated is guess is that the pictures are generic. That means that the celebrities listed may own cars like these but probably not the ones shown on the pictures.
But really, the burden of proof is yours, not mine. If you're convinced those cars shown on the pictures belong to Charlie it's up to you to prove that.

Yeah.. much better clarification for your matter of fact statement.

I would say the one you reference is generic, and the other three likely his.
Not an educated guess, but based more on how many different articles pictured them as Charlie's and the way they are pictured.

Also- may notice I never stated they were his.. just "Believe these are them.."
So no real burden of proof needed.

There's A Bridges Ta Babylon doco where
they ask Charlie about his vintage car/s ....

Its pretty funny as Charlie answers that he has no license
but when not on tour he sits in cars and pretends to drive them ...

Guy also asks Charlie what does he do when not on tour...
Do you mow the lawns ???? ....

Charlie ... WHAT !!! Me mow da lawns

Yep, the NME interview was pretty good. Seems like Charlie is more chatty now. Apparently he boycotted journalists for a long, long time. He mentions that in the interview. People change with age. Luckily...

Well, he may have just been giving that guy a line, but then again, Ronnie said it too. Would LOVE to see pics of Charlie sitting in his fancy cars dressed to the 9s.

Okay, googled some. Apparently the jewel in Charlie's car collection is a Lagonda Rapide, 1937, which he bought in 1983. Sir Michael's first car was a Ford Escort. In 1966 he bought a brand new navy blue Aston Martin DB6. Which he crashed soon after. He also (Jagger) has a Delahaye in his collection of cars stored in one of his French castles. Keith favors Bentleys, he used to have a S3 Continental, four-door (Blue Lena). So they are all into cars.
I guess it helps with some money to grow a hobby like that...

I'd like to see the suit (with Charlie in it) tailored to match the character of the 2CV ... spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Its a real shame he abused the fcuk out of it. Those are beautiful cars but not something you want some irresponsible kid driving like a hot rod. My friend has a decrepit one like it sitting in his barn.

Then there was the E type he and Bobby Keys thrashed in France.

He really should learn to respect beautiful things a bit more. I would give my eye teeth for either of them and cherish them more than my children. For Keef they were just throwaway trinkets it seemed.

“It was a car meant to be driven fast at night,” Richards said, in his 2010 autobiography, Life. “Having this car was already heading for trouble, breaking the rules of the establishment, driving a car I was definitely not born in to. ‘Blue Lena’ had carried us on many an acid-fuelled journey.” Richards has said he named the car in honor of Lena Horne. The car was well-used while under his ownership, prompting a future owner to undertake a detailed restoration after Richards got into several accidents with the car."

Here is the leather interior. I wonder if Keith ever kept it in this good condition?
Do you hear the leather seats talking, Rockman?

Sir Michael's first car was a Ford Escort.

Indeed it was a Ford but not an Escort, they weren’t launched until 1968. I believe it was a Ford Zephyr 4 Mark III.
