Saw this on PBS couple weeks ago, an interview with Earl Slick and how he's been a sideman/session man for many different artists throughout his career. Also interviewed was Bernard Fowler, who said that between Stones work, he's always looking for work to do. Said something to the effect that he doesn't consider himself a Rolling Stone, just a sideman. I knew who Earl Slick was, but didn't realize who he's played with throughout his career including Bowie and Lennon. A great documentary if anyone happens to see it.

Exactly! Makes me think that Bernard isn't compensated very well with the Stones. I remember when Bowie played US Festival in 83, Stevie Ray Vaughn was his guitarist. Bowie and Van Halen were paid $1.5 million each. I recall Bowie paid his band $250 each.

Any ideas as to what the Stones regular touring support musicians make?

Ronnie was paid $250,000 for the 1975 tour - I read that somewhere. Mac was paid $15 or 20K for the 1978 tour. It's in his book.

I would think Chuck and Darryl were well paid.

I would have thought so too, but then they only play a dozen or so shows in recent years. So quite a bit of down time between tours. Saw on Youtube Chuck playing keyboards and vocals with David Gilmour in concert, singing Comfortably Numb.
