I found a copy of GREASE the other day and listened to it in my truck for a few days. Really well done but holy crap is it awful. Of course there are the 6 big songs, Grease, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted, You're The One That I Want, Sandy and Greased Lightin', and I had never listened to the lyrics of Greased Lightnin' - that was very funny.

Yeah, "Greased Lightnin'" has some pretty obscene stuff going on. Really funny though.

Perhaps I am incorrect, but it seems many are putting their favorite scores rather than soundtracks. I mean, put whatever you want I guess, favorite car, color, number...but they all seem off subject.

first ideas flashing in my head :

Paris Texas / Ry Cooder
The Hot Spot / John Lee Hooker, Miles Davis

I'm right there with you on Paris, Texas. Ry Cooder's finest hour in my opinion. I saw the movie on cable in the '80s and found it pretty boring but ran out and bought the soundtrack album the next day.

I am also partial to Band of the Hand (a truly terrible '80s movie) only because the song is such an intense and overlooked Bob Dylan / Tom Petty rocker.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
A Hard Day’s Night
Casino
Robin and Marian - I should explain - In 1976, my wife and I, newly married, went to the cinema to see this film. It was with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn, about an aging Robin Hood and his love for Maid Marian. The music, to me, was hauntingly beautiful, with some wonderful flute (I play flute). About 20 years ago I came across a recording of it. It still moves me. By the way, we’re still married!

I just love that 'Out Of Time' (both versions) are in several movies, certainly more than one would think, but to me it's top 3 Most Underrated songs.. Including most recently: Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

The scenes of that guy running are superb.
What a beautiful runner he was.

For a moment I thought you were referring to Willie Nelson's reggae album. My bad!

Going with Elmo on The Big Chill. The opening bars of YCAGWYW at the beginning of the film for the funeral scene knocked me out. Then "Heard it Through the Grapevine" later on and other great tunes added to the fun.

Really enjoyed "Out of Time" lately in Once Upon a Time....

Loved Casino, but, soooo disappointed that CYHMK was not on the released sound track.
Found that out after I bought it.

Top three:

Chariots of Fire • Main Theme • Vangelis : Not just the music, but also the movie, all great!

Green Ice soundtrack by Bill Wyman

Paint It Black, River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires, 1998

Vangelis because he is one the greatest composers of soundtracks ever, along with Morricone, and "Chariots of Fire" is simply a "must see" movie.

Bill Wyman, because he wrote the great Green Ice soundtrack, without getting much fame from it.

Paint It Black live in Argentina, because I got the soundtrack when I was there in 1998, between the shows, and it has been the soundtrack of my life ever since.

I forgot about Rainbow Bridge. I’ve never seen the movie, but love the soundtrack. I don’t recall ever seeing an official VHS, DVD or Blu-Ray release of the movie, or ever hearing of a screening at an art house or film festival. Anyone know what’s the hold-up?

The Transporter - When Jason S. kicks in the door to the song "The Fighting Man".
Go - Cool movie with some good songs!
The Replacements - Fun movie with 3 Stones songs!

Guess we gotta count Magical Mystery Tour. Though I don't think that's necessarily the spirit of the OP.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (2005 Tim Burton version)
Of all the tracks, I love ‘Veruca Salt’ — it feels like more genuine and authentic than any psychedelic songs written and produced in the real era c.1967, makes me feel euphoric whenever I hear it.

I always thought Danny Elfman's score on "Midnight Run" was really good. The horn section gives it a cool Stax Records kind of sound. Underrated, IMO. Also a great movie.
