I'm 4.3 miles NORTH of the outer border of the Lockdown Zone. And there really are occasional roadblocks South of us towards the city.

This was prompted by a huge spike in cases. 288 yesterday.

When that was announced Victoria's Chief Medical Officer tried to put it into a Global context and said "That's 20 minutes in the USA...."

His maths was wrong. 60,000 cases yesterday in the USA. That's 41.6 cases being diagnosed a minute, so the USA gets that number of cases in SEVEN minutes.

Very sobering calculation.

You do have to remember most of those cases are mild or even asymptomatic.

Do wish you guys the best though, cannot be much fun around there right now. Just try to stay healthy. I know its gotta be stretching the Aussie spirit of independence, way more than here in the USA, and even here its starting to get crazy.

That's 100% correct. And that's of itself a big problem. Someone could be fully asymptomatic and innocently pass it on to someone, they could be asymptomatic, and then equally innocently pass it on to someone who is vulnerable, immuno-compromised or similar, and they get VERY ill indeed.

Latest case count 216 announced today, so that's yesterday's tested cases.

I am so sorry to hear about the situation in Melbourne. I just love it there, the center of Stones fans in Australia as it feels when I get there. Hopefully they will get the virus under control soon. Oh I miss the VB days!

Yep Melbourne and Victoria are one of my favourite places on earth. Stuck in New Zealand and we can't really leave, COVID clear in the community, but the border is a dangerous place
