In their history, after the big4,so between5and7. They should have kept the best songs from flowers or visa versa.Putting 2albums out within 6months with songs from a lot of the same sessions and time period made no sense artistic wise.

I agree. It could be a killer album with the singles included and some the Dylanesque pieces that haven't stood up so well removed.I would include 'My Obsession' though. Doesn't 'Sitting on a fence' fit better with 'Aftermath'?

BTB has always been one of my fav Stones' albums. Love the mixture of the RnB and light psychedelia. Great songwriting. The UK/Decca version is superior because of the Flowers songs.

Please go Home would be a must. Raunchy with that weird instrument - meletron? - and a fantastic ending.

And leave off Yesterday's Papers.

But I like Flowers as it is, although I agree that B t B would be a better album with some of it's tracks.

Anyway there are 2 versions of the Buttons album so it all gets a bit silly.

As do many things in fact. One more won' t make much difference then.

Add 'Something Happened To Me Yesterday' and it could reach 6.5!

67 was a great year for the stones despite the criticisms, if you add up the singles and b sides, both albums buttons and satanic as well as the outtakes and instrumentals we could have had a classic double album, that period for me is very underrated,

Maybe if it had a big single on it... it didn't. It's just a bunch of goofy songs at a goofy time.

Are you talking about Flowers or Between the Buttons? That description sounds much more like Flowers. I always rated BtB right up there although in that time any and all "real" (not compilation) releases were A#1 in my mind. But BtB was right up there with them. I was more used to the USA version but had the UK one as well after about 68 or so. Pure genius songwriting on most of those tracks.

Flowers was a throwaway album, made up of singles and deleted tracks mostly, wasnt it? That was my impression back then. Something for the USA market to keep the record company happy while the Stones beat the cases etc.

ABKCO seems to be constantly reissuing their early catalogue with a twist like colored vinyl. Manufactured "collectors items"...collect them all and you will have overpaid like mad.
