It's really good. Very well done. Excellently done, really.

But.

It really brings to mind why the Stones are so good and why their rhythm, give and take, weave and wobble, work so well, Rocks Off especially giving audible proof of why the Stones are so damn good, where as the version by Hookers And Blow, a very good rock band, obviously, is just... rock band average: Aerosmith or Def Leppard would do it almost exactly the same so... you know, nice nod and all but nothing interesting.

Sounds like a hard rock version of it. It's okay. But it doesn't come close to the Exile version of course. But who would have thought that?

The lead singer's voice is great ; not really trying to sing like Mick but he sounds like he owns the song. Nice tones and good pitch; an American twist on that classic Stones'tune.

I am just watching the you tube video and I have to say I am surprised in a good way . The band sounds fantastic , the vocalist is doing a much better job than I am accustomed to hearing and maybe it's how it's recorded/mixed and even the slow part or bridge sounds way better than one would think . The only thing that annoyed me was that one note the guitarist playing the PRS guitar would bend , which sounded off or his take on it .

That one note the guitarist was bending sounds like he was trying to cover a little bit for the missing horn parts that accent the phrases .

exactly. It's a great cover, the keyboard player kicks the sh*t out of Chuck but it really misses the horns.

Very very good but I felt that they were "too close" to the original. And that wasn't live, they were playing over their studio recording.

I am not into heavy metal but look at what Frog Leap Studios has done to the song Africa. Note the girl's power vocals are double or triple-tracked and it sounds FANTASTIC IMO.

I love Mott The Hoople . I had a chance to see Ian Hunter with Mick Ronson on guitar way back in 1988 and it was the closest for me to the original Mott . Great band with a lot of great tunes !

Frog Leap needs to leap off this thread!
