He played a show at Luther's Blues (Madison WI) and, midway through the set, he strolled into the audience during a guitar solo and proceeded down the stairs and out to University Avenue still playing a rip roaring guitar. Incredible musician.

Very sad news - much too young at 55. Great guitarist - RIP, Lucky P.

About 20 years ago, I was working the Toronto Jazz Fest and Lucky was on the bill that day. They had some problems at the border and rolled in about 3 hours late. He and his band were jammed inside a van, and looked like the most road weary, tired souls, I think I ever did see. A half hour or so later, after stinking up their dressing room with a whole bunch of wacky tabacky, they proceeded to the stage and burnt that damn place to the ground. It was quite amazing to see. What a performance!

So sad to hear! I hoped to see him again. Followed him since his Beyond Cool album in 1993. Could see him live at Quasimodo,Berlin in 2003 . One of the most impressive club gigs I ever attended. What a musician. Kick Ass Funk,Blues, guitar and Organ player.
Some Stones connection: he did a coverversion of Lucky In Love on his 2003 album Black Midnight Sun, produced by Bill Laswell....
55 years, man , that`s tragic.

Tom

Wow, that is awesome. If only it sounded like that on the album.
