How good is the book in the deluxe set? Must say I loved the GHS deluxe book, lots of glossy photos from '73!

Good reviews this far on the sound; guitars a little low on some SW proshots so great to hear they're mixed nice and loud.

Haven't paid much attention yet to the book concerning rare photos & text.
The overall look is pretty nice.

I have the Swinging Pig version. For those who have the new release, is it a night and day difference or would you call it a slight improvement.

I hate buying the same show twice...but...

I have the TSP Box too smileys with beer I doubt that the new audio will be a night and day difference - a little cleaner but much more compressed ...

I wait for a sale or maybe I skip on this one.

there is a difference.
the old boots sound a bit more distant.
the guitars are clearer in sound as before IMHO.

night & day

the old boots all have the distant arena sound.
this one is very close.

Ok but I m unsure if it's really better audiowise. These from the vault releases are all very catchy on first listen... My boot sounds ok / not perfect but I always liked it despite minor "faults".

Check the ruby tuesday clip on youtube and decide for yourself.

I personally think anyone who has bought bootlegs of the material, if they like it enough to still be listening to it, should feel obligated to buy at least a low line version of this release, as I think of all "official" releases they put out. Its only fair, and really, the price is right for the basic sets.

I too have the 4CD Swinging Pig set....and from what I'm reading here, I can maybe get rid of it....minus perhaps the 4th disc for the pre/post-show stuff and rare tracks including those Toronto songs, as I did not buy the $100 deluxe 'Steel Wheels Live' but just the 2CD/Blu Ray. And I have a boot of Wembley 7/7/90 (which I guess is the day after the 3 Wembley tracks on "Rare Reels" but alas).

In contrast, I did end up keeping my Miami 11/25/94 boot ("Miami Dice") since that official release was mixed so differently (i.e. badly).

Par for the coarse on these archival Rolling Stones CD releases, the DR values suck on this one. However, it's still by far the best you're going to find for this show, the mix is great with great clarity on all instruments, especially Keith, can't say the same for the old bootleg versions. The Blu-ray is excellent, they obviously did a fantastic restoration, again, blows away the bootlegs. The stereo audio track on the Blu-ray is 24/48, I haven't ripped it yet to see whether the dynamic range is any better on that. I absolutely love this release!

I thought I had the Swinging Pig version of this, but I just dug it out and it appears to be on a label called "Crystal Cat Records", two cd set with some deluxe graphics.

How does this version compare to TSP version? I am going to pop it in and have a listen but just for reference would like to know how it sounds relative to other releases.

thanks

Yes - [www.Qobuz.com] - (i)-Button. Mastering by Mazen Murad according to HDtracks. But the Credits provided by Universal Music should always be taken with a grain of salt (see the posts below).

While the Digital Audio is still not on US-iTunes, it's in the US at least on Qobuz , [www.ProStudioMasters.com] and [www.HDtracks.com] . The MP3 is also on [www.Amazon.com] .

After two listening sessions I must admit the mix isn't as horrible as Miami 94. It is guitar driven but somehow distant and sometimes overloaded but I am more satisfied with it than with the last few ones.

The CD version was cut down to fit on two CDs. Therefore some introductions were cut and the band intros stops after a few musicians. The Download/Spotify version seems to be the same version minus the Intro. It starts straight with SMU and all track lengths are the same as on CD.

The Bonus DVD from Tokyo is the same release as the old one with a new menu. Picture is bootleg quality and the sound is good, although not excellent like the other Tokyo show.

All in all a great release. The 6 Disc package is really really beautiful. I like it! Great concert!

It's on Spotify.

You have to get used to a distant Mick but upfront Ronnie and Keith.

Nevertheless, finally this official release!

I have both and a radio promo as a tape from an FM Broadcast- time fades 30Years ago.

The official release is ok as far as I can tell (Spotify) -> Ronnie is partly louder, Keith is samewhat burried (Sympathy, Gimme Shelter, R'n'R ...)

Vocals are very harsh and upfront ? Or is it just me ??? My hearing was better 30 years ago eye rolling smiley

I agree 100%, DR values aren't everything, I'm very happy with this release and think it's miles better than any other version in existance, that's how people should look at it and as you point out the DR values on TSP audio isn't any better. The mix on the new release is what makes it shine IMO, I'm very happy with it and the mastering isn't a deal breaker for me in the slightest.
