Contents of CD3:

Steel Wheels Rare Reel

01. Play With Fire (CNE Stadium/Toronto/Sept. 3, 1989)
02. Dead Flowers (CNE Stadium/Toronto/Sept. 3, 1989)
03. Almost Hear You Sigh (Wembley Stadium/London/July 6, 1990)
04. I Just Want To Make Love To You (Wembley Stadium/London/July 6, 1990)
05. Street Fighting Man (Wembley Stadium/London/July 6, 1990)
06. 1989 Interview [Japanese Bonus-Track]

It is really nice that the Atlantic City 89 gig is finally getting a proper commercial release. I personally have always loved this show. I thought the performance, musicality, and energy level was top notch. IMHO, the Stones delivered great performances on just about every tune they played that day.

My minor gripe with the Rare Reel: I wish they would have dug up a better version of Dead flowers rather than the one from the CNE stadium gig. From memory, this was only their third (?) show into the tour and they sounded pretty tentative as a whole. Otherwise, this is a pretty good package inclusive of the rarities!

Finally.

I'll be getting the Bluray 2 record set. I don't need a $75 trucker hat and some shitty tshirt that will fall apart in 2 weeks...

If that is all that is on CD3, then that's a big disappointment for the deluxe 6 disc set.

I'll take the blu-ray plus 2 CD set at a lot less cost.

That is great. But, unfortunately, that concert was not restored. Original Japanese WARD release From The Vault Extra was of average TV quality. It was better than bootleg though.

Currently, in Europe the difference between Bluray/2CD and 6 discs Deluxe is 43-27.5=15.5 EUR at amazon.fr or 50-33=17 EUR at jpc.de
For me Deluxe looks like a better choice in terms of items per EUR.

The price is the only good thing about the 6 disc Version. Come on we get 6(!!!!) discs and in the end we get one concert and as a bonus a concert that's already released some years ago in the same quality and 5 Bonus Songs of which one has already been released. At least they could have released a few more songs on that bonus disc. Does it hurt them? What is their Intention? It can't be quality as they released stuff like Whip from Buenos Aires...

it's even worse – since the bonus show features the same set list (only one song that hasn't been performed at Atlantic City

Setlist is not my main point. I would prefer a Set with 3 complete shows with the same setlist over this release

Thanks.
its gonna be just the dvd/cd version for me since i already have that Feb 24 show on dvd.

That extra cd of the deluxe edition is not that interesting to pay that much for it

sounds like these are not really all that rare - some of them were b-sides from Flashpoint already?

Lynd8: looks to me like even though the title might have been released already as Flashpoint singles, its not the same night or performance.

But I would expect them to be taken from that weekly Sunday "special" that was going for a while. Guess not though.

I think they stopped crediting that with San Jose. That was the point where the mixes really got worse with a sad lowpoint Miami 94. Before it was all Bob Clearmountain.

Audio mastering can be credited differently

Is there a bootleg documenting this rebroadcast? It seems to me the infamous TSP bootleg is far from a great mix (loud crowd noise).

EDIT: after a search in the forum, here's a lot of answers to my question.

I’m hoping there’s a chance that Clearmountain came back for this one, considering he mixed the live disc on Honk.

No, that was 26-Feb-1990 - [en.Wikipedia.org] , [TimeIsOnOurSide.com] , [NZentgraf.de] - (2015).

From The Vault Extra - Live in Japan - Tokyo Dome is 24-Feb-1990 - [www.Discogs.com] .

But the Setlists are identical.
