Exile 1/2 speed reissue question...

...forgive me. I tried searching for this using keywords but I was flung far asunder.

Are there TWO DIFFERENT recent half-speed remasters of Exile'? I sent away for one thinking it was the excellent Abbey Road cut I'd heard at a friend's house but it appears I may have actually ordered a UNI version? Are there two? Can anyone comment on the sound of either - or both? Thank you.

Hello,

I know, and own, two recent diferente EOMS remastered editions:

2010 - The deluxe version comes with a great packaging and booklet, etc. The sound is dreadfull, because it has way too much compression (you get ear tireness after 5 minute leastening)

2017- Abbey Roag Half Speed Remastered Edition. It is far better than the previous, nevertheless, as far as I know, Miles Showell "S)ound Engineer resposnibe for Abbey Road Half Speed Remasterered Editions" said in a interview, that he had to use the compressed files.

I donĀ“t know, I have never heard them, if the EOMS that comes in the Half Speed Remastered Edition that came out in the Box, in 2019, is the same, or if it is made based on a diferent file (uncompressed).

I hope it helped.

So if we play exile on normal speed we hear Keith McLaughlin on guitar.

Yes:

The 2016 HalfSpeed-Master is based on a dynamically compressed digital Master (96kHz/24bit) - [iorr.org] .

The 2018 HalfSpeed-Master (2018 Box, separately 2020) is a new Remaster based on a High-Resolution Flat-Transfer from the Master-Tapes (probably in DSD) - [iorr.org] .
