Sorry if this has been discussed before, but is the red SG around the donkey's neck on the cover shot, the same guitar that Jimi Hendrix is seen playing backstage at MSG? Has to be, right?

Mick Taylor used to play one around that time. I have no idea where he got it from.

Yes, it's Mick Taylor's, which Jimi Hendrix played backstage at MSG (upside down, strung for right-handed playing...).
SGs with a horseshoe vibrato are comparatively rare, although there are a few of them about.
