Early yesterday morning we said goodbye to our wonderful Dad.
Many of you will not be aware that he was sick, due to the fact that he was a very private person, but unfortunately he fought and lost a very rapid battle with Cancer.
He went very peacefully under the care of the fantastic doctors and nurses of the John Radcliffe, and Ella and I were able to go and say our goodbyes to him there.

UrbanSteel, that was a class act.

Her dad really had a big online presence, and he will be missed very, very much here at IORR. His contribution was huge, and as I have now checked some of the back pages, it was even bigger than I ever realized, and I have always repected him very much. He was unique, and I miss him dearly.

Like others here,I never had the pleasure of meeting Alan in real life,but because of the internet I was able to come to appreciate all of his Stones contributions(mostly here on iorr)which were many...in fact I still have 1 of his emails that I received from him (may 2014). Our RS community has lost a beloved member that we will never forget.Thank You again Alan for Everything you did..the info...the links....for cyberly(is that a word ?)letting me hang out & rub elbows with you,& last but not least for greatly helping me improve(add to ) my RS collection.Alan ,you will be missed......RIP...
