Has anyone besides me heard the radio edit with a distinct ending rather than the fade out?

I have not yet heard it, but I would love to, and I’m really hoping it will be one of the “extra versions” they may tack on to the CD come May 29th.

...with a real drum?!! I hope so!!!

According to this article (in portuguese) it took 9 attempts until Mick considered the remix version as "satisfactory" (no pun intended, lol).

Thank you so much! What's even better than the ending is that the auto tune effect on the vocals is not there on this version! Listen to the bridge and compare it to the single version. Huge difference! Also there's are a lot of Keith licks in the right channel that didn't made it into the single version, for example in the Reggae part is one that is very audible

That version is even more intriguing if that is the right word. We've learned what quantized drums are but it tapped my foot tothis and it feels 100% Charlie

Overall this version seems less processed and more organic w/ a heartbeat and pulse which makes it more satisfying for the soul imo.
Still like the original release version (and even the recent corny dance remix), but this one kicks it up a notch to another level.

Still love ta hear Mick's original
jam/demo with the unaltered dark/weird lyrics ....

Some of it is not going to work and some of it was a bit
weird and a bit too dark. So I slightly rewrote it. I didn’t
have to rewrite very much, to be honest. It’s very much how I originally did it.”

Yeah, Rrrrreee, I wouldn't mind seeing the original lyrics.

Meanwhile I checked a couple of the links above and they don't seem to show me the song or a place to find it, or a way to get to the twelve minute mark of the program.

Would someone be able to provide a different link to the latest version you have been discussing? Thanks.

Thank you, wiredallnight! I enjoyed listening to this edit, perhaps moreso with, to my ears, the reggae tones coming through a little more prominently. Very nice!

Yes, I agree, not bad at all! Chrissy Hynde’s voice still sounds fresh!

They should of kept the song on the track way it was originally intended to go.

Jaggers vocals sound better here .. more powerful. Tempo here is a bit faster however.

Would of kept the original lyrics and Micks vocals for the most part like the production they are here .. in this style and worked on the song a tad more and then included it as an 'album' song .. not a single. I would of kept the temp a little faster just as it is here ... I think this was the intent in the first place. However who the heck am I? Just giving what would of benefited the song and perception of it.

Mick Jagger told Zane Lowe of Apple Music.

“It wasn’t written for now, it was just one of those odd things,”

It was written about being in a place which was full of life
and then now, is all bereft of life so to speak. When I went
back to what I had written originally, lyrically…I didn’t use
them in the lyrics, (but) it was all full of plague terms and
things like that. I never actually used that, but it was all there.

So Basement News would presumably do it like this:

Living In A Ghost Town I (4:08)

with additional bridge after the harmonica solo:

PREACHERS WERE ALL PREACHING
CHARITIES BESEECHING
POLITITIANS DEALING
THIEVES WERE HAPPY STEALING
WIDOWS WERE ALL WEEPING
THERES NO BEDS FOR US TO SLEEP IN
ALWAYS HAD THE FEELING
IT WOULD ALL COME TUMBLING DOWN

Living In A Ghost Town II (3:59)

edited version I with the break right after the harmonica solo

Living In A Ghost Town III (3:44)

slightly different mix, edited version II with abrupt ending
------------

btw. I prefer version I with the second bridge both for the lyrics
and the uplift of the song near the end. I hope it will be on a
physical release

If it's not geo-blocked then the Webbrowser is still wrong or too old.

I've made a recording: [iorr.org] .

Suzi Quatro Introduces Ghost Town Appeal, for Pattaya Thailand.

"The Rolling Stones lent their support this week to a Pattaya, Thailand based fund that is run by local English Language radio station Fabulous 103FM.

The station is working as a supply bank for food, handed out to those cooking for those thousands of unemployed in the region queuing daily as a result of Covid 19's effect on the region, and zero tourism.

As Pattaya is a centre of tourism, so it has quickly become a Ghost town, which is also the name of the song the Stones agreed that the radio station could use in their latest video appeal which releases this week

Introduced by Suzi Quatro, the video highlights the food supply operation and its hoped that it will result in more funds coming in.

Mick Jagger's brother Chris, a friend of the station, put in a good word with his brother and all was agreed in minutes to help.

The Fabulous 103FM team created the video and Suzi Quatro kindly offered to introduce it

A previous video appeal by the same station saw Emperor Rosko introduce Pete Doherty & the Libertines haunting melody and the fund to date has bought and given out some 650,000 baht in supplies.

So we can figure there will officially be 3 different versions - the full length that's for sale, the edit version of that, and the LP version, which is on that radio show.
