I have absolutely no need for a remix of any sort. I just want the song (physical copy please).

I WANT MORE!!!!

smiling smiley

There's a (official?) video on Youtube that is still unavailable, with the lenght of 1.54 min (printscreen below). And somebody made a recording from TV last night and posted on YT: [youtu.be]

Thanks Cristiano - I like it, and imagine I'll like it even more when we can hear the much higher quality official version. When the harmonica comes in at 1:16... that's smokin' hot.
I've always likes their weird remixes including the extreme dance beat remixes, even though I'm not in to that type of club/dance/trance type music.
And for all we know, this is the version Mick might have wanted to release as the official version...sort of has that Will.I.Am sound to it that he likes so much.
Glad they chose the one they did though, but I say the more the merrier...being only one new song I hope they release 5 new remixes! Maybe a heavy reggae dub version next.thumbs up

Sure, it can only be done that way. Sorry if it's been mentioned before but what's the ratio from streams to "sales" ?

In The UK:
New releases will have a streaming to sales ratio of 100:1 (in the case of premium streams) or 600:1 (in the case of ad funded streams) applied.
[absolutelabelservices.com]

In The US:
The Hot 100 Singles have multiple weighted tiers of streaming plays, which take into account paid subscription streams (representing a full point value per play), ad-supported streams (representing a 2/3-point value per play) and programmed streams (representing a 1/2-point value per play).
Those values are then applied to the chart’s formula alongside all-genre radio airplay and digital song sales data.

On the main albums chart, the Billboard 200, you have paid subscription audio streams (equating 1,250 streams to 1 album unit) ad-supported audio streams (equating 3,750 streams to 1 album unit).

Thanks, wow what a headache ! The music industry really seems to be clutching at straws to stay relevant...

Wow I like the new video.... great way of mixing shots of the band.
I particularly like how the song lifts into the chorus

Yeah, exactly, it actually moves with the sections of the song. The other (the official) vid sounded like it was made without the editor having even heard the song...

The video with the Stones live and GIMME SHELTER footage is awesome - the syncing to make it look like Mick is singing etc is done way better than anything the Stones have ever done.

The Stones tried something similar in the video of "No Spare Parts". probably not working as well as the guy has done here. But that said, that of using old footage to go with a 'new' song, I think the Stones did a marvellous job in "Plundered My Soul". I think the way they chose the scenes and edited it gives such a great impression and feel of EXILE-era Stones, like the song does.

Holy crap. Somehow I've never seen that No Spare Parts video. That was pretty cool - but the kid's video is much better with the placements of Mick looking like he's singing the song!

I enjoyed Plundered. The footage is nice. It reminds me of when I go to various places in Florida and I have a book or whatever that shows things in the past... and you can be in the present where the pic was taken. It's a great perspective.

this is a reworking on that TELL THE TRUTH song Mick dropped last year, right? it sounds the same... "Really gonna Tell the Truth" and "Living in a Ghost Town" is the same... but it's slowed down, and sounds like The Specials tune, as pointed out by many...

Well, here is the original then. "Ghost Town" by The Specials. From 1981. A big hit then. Reached the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart.
Do not ask me which one I prefer, the original or the imitation. I may get kicked out of the forum for answering that one...

No doubt in my mind The Specials' original Ghost Town is far better, but that doesn't take away from the greatness of the new Stones tune.
Hard to believe Ghost Town is nearly 40 years old...a major part of the soundtrack to the summer right after I graduated high school as an 18 yr. old... still have the 7" and 12" extended vinyl singles

I am working on a separate editorial IORR page dedicated to all the details of the new single and video of "Living In A Ghost Town". One of the things I have been working on, is to locate where all the parts of the video is filmed.

The locations of the video should be these:

Los Angeles, Toronto, London, Oslo, Cape Town, Margate and Osaka

The Oslo bits are very short, filmed very early Sunday morning, including this one:

0:59 - 1:01 Prinsens gate, Oslo, Norway (as seen from the Oslo S side)

The Oslo video bits were made by Kristian Engelsen, age 30, he is too young to know a lot about The Rolling Stones, but for sure he was very happy when his was contacted by a collegue in New York, then later the producer Fred Bonham Carter. There are bits from Prinsens gate, the Barcode area and the Oslo underground.

Then thanks to a post by bengigan I have this:

Lots of cool shots of my small town, Toronto

0:13 Spadina & Queen
0:39 Yonge & Dundas and then into Dundas station before cutting to Piccadilly Circus
2:20 and a few other times you see the CN Tower
2:32 driving on the Gardener and Lakeshore Blvd
3:20 Bathurst street down by Front all the way up to King Street
3:43 Blue Jay walk area, between Ripley's, CN Tower and Rogers Centre

Some bits fly by in a split second, but I have noted a few more bits:

0:48 - 0:51 Picadilly Circus, London, UK
1:32 Dundas St Toronto
2:54 CN Tower and Rogers Centre area Toronto?

There are quite a lot from London, streets, underground, double-decker etc.

There are still many places I can't recognize, like:

Where are the yellow stairs from (at 1:35 - 1:42)?
Tree at 2:37 and on?
Large glasses on the beach?

Comments and details are welcome. If you have info please post here or send me an e-mail to iorr@arena.no - Thanks!

Bjornulf

The new, alternative video has BRIAN in it. BRIAN. I don't think they've ever put Brian in a video after he died. (You get the side of Bill's head a couple times, and a microsecond of Mick Taylor). But BRIAN. Smiling!
