Having been brought up in London, and having been back there many many times indeed I found the video, in a way, disturbing (it's meant to be I think).
To see such well known locations so utterly empty of people is unreal. Regent St with no-one in it. Picadilly Circus deserted!
If we'd seen this video 6 months ago we'd have assumed digital manipulation of images.... but it's real.
Be scared.

Good point, but this auto-tune is from the latter day/modern era of the 90's and has somewhat of a stigma attached to it.
By now there's nothing really experimental, contemporary, or cutting edge about it and it adds nothing but a dated stigma....it's basically old news.
That said, Pete Townshend used a bit of it on at least one of the new Who tunes which didn't hinder the music, but I think he used it more cleverly and subtly than Mick did.

Just two days ago the Stones released their imo best single in decades but some usual suspects have nothing better to do than desperately trying to find an angle for some Mick bashing. First this "Mick's song / Keith does not seem to be into it, looks indifferent in the video" thing that quickly died down after the interviews appeared and now this "autotune affair".
Looks like some people simply cannot celebrate a new and surprisingly good Stones song that appeared almost out of the blue without some stabs against Mick.
Thing is that Mick is the lead singer since their very start and that this most likely won't change for the rest of their career. Get over it!

Not here. It's used to obtain a sound or an effect that was modern a few years ago.
The thing is though, Mick has never been able to replicate the vocals live that we hear in the Studio, this has been the case throughout his life, from Satisfaction to Start Me Up and on to live tracks from Blue And Lonesome and now this, there is just no way he can sing like that so he's using something, he's always had access to vocal enhancement, not sure what but it's telling that he doesn't even attempt to sing some Studio songs like Let It Loose or Time Waits For No One. I'm fascinated by this, he definitely shines live on tracks like Angie and Wild Horses though, so it's confusing in a way, vocally he can be so off the mark live, like with LPTNT or Under My Thumb and GOOMC , almost completely different songs live vocally, I'd just love to know how he created the sound he did in the Studio in the day.
I can't think of another singer that reveals such a change when singing live, such a marked contrast.
Thank God he has people like Bernard to fill in the missing sound and thicken things out or it would sound empty and hollow.

Damn, I hadn't noticed it before, but now, especially in the bridge, I cannot un-hear it. It's not really disturbing, and the song really works very well and Mick is great in it, but indeed, I could have done without this particular effect.

He didn't play on B2B. At first, he wasn't involved on Blue And Lonesome, but got the okay eventually to add overdubs later.

The "Autotune Affair"...might be a good title for their next single, but only if Keith would allow it....maybe/hopefully they'll release a Keith lead vocal next?!
Been loving this tune since the very first 30 second snippet I heard, and have been basking in it ever since. If it's the last original tune they ever release while they're still a functioning band, then nice job - a fine way to go out. It's still fresh and I'm still digesting it all (warts and all), so not ready to give it a ranking amongst their latter day original material, but I can easily/honestly say it's a damn fine Stones tune and I like it much better than the two new tunes that were included on GRRR. Those didn't even sound like the Stones to me -= faux Stones if you will, and the same goes for most of A Bigger Bang, as well as the new tunes that were on 40 Licks which were dismal at best. This new one though...hallelujah! Can't wait for my cd and vinyl copies to arrive, along with the cool t-shirt - I'll be listening to the tune and wearing my short throughout the summer and beyond! If the Some Girls album was part of the soundtrack to the Summer of '78, this new tune will easily be a part of the soundtrack to the Summer of 2020 with the "fond" memories of dealing with the coronavirus crisis!
Thankfully those who repeatedly predicted no new Stones music until the 60th anniversary were completely wrong!
Listening right now...gotta turn up the sound.......it's only the Rolling Stones, but I like it.
