@georgelicks any words on Sales / rankings etc so far?

#1 on US Itunes at the moment, the sales are a bit low for singles nowadays, its all about streaming.

Cool any data on streaming?

Didn't the net profit go to charity? I read that earlier in this thread.

If that's correct, would you consider saying a nice word about the band? smoking smiley

The one bit of good Stones news in the middle of all this, however,
is that Jagger and Richards have plenty of extra time on their hands now.

“We’ve got another five or six tracks and there’s a lot of sort of soul
feel about it for some reason without anybody intending to,” Richards said. “Obviously right now we’ve got nothing else to do but write some more songs, right?”

Yet some more songs? At the end of lockdown there'll be 60 songs then to choose additional four from ... might take them decades ...

That Powerage78 ACDC loving dude has to be the sad, sad, sad, saddest human being on earth ! A bit of an IORR inside joke at this point honestly ;-)

Moving on...I would have sworn Keith say "great minds think alike" in his video snippet yesterday but can't find it now, or was it in a post ?

Have heard it only once.

But it has passed The old grey whistle test'. So will be a (big) hit I think.

Not groundbreaking, but will break them to new age.

Charlie hasn't added anything to his style 'repertoire' since the eighties, and he's Nealy eight so we wouldn't expect it. But his very simple style does characterise this song and it would be card to find any other drummer these days who could, or would, use his earthy, human, direct KISS technique.

Not the most favourable review from the NME

but it does conjure up some funny images:

''“Feel like a ghost / Living in a ghost town,” he complains, strutting along palatial hallways to make his own bloody sandwich, ''

It is classic rolling stones, mid tempo with a nice ending twist reggae/dub. The fact that Mick wrote part of the lyrics months ago(before the pandemic) is strange because it describes the world we are in now, and that is the attraction. The rolling stones have been so prolific over the last 58 years that they have probably a song somewhere in the vaults for any scenario in our continuing human adventure!
Keep on rockin' rolling stones.
Rockandroll,

"The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock n’ roll band of all time, and they’ve made the greatest rock n’ roll records of all time. That’s not the start of an argument, that’s just an Earth-is-round-and-Sun-is-hot fact. Is this up there with those pinnacles of all human achievement? Of course it isn’t. Does it rock? Yes it does. Why, it’s as catchy as Covi… well, you know what I was going to say. The twilight of the gods is a ways off yet."

Well there they are ... in the studio 'TOGETHER' .. and that was before the tour was canceled.

Song was recorded in LA, February 2019.

Keith: We cut this track well over a year ago in L.A. for part of a new album, an ongoing thing, and then shit hit the fan. Mick and I decided this one really needed to go to work right now and so here you have it, "Living in a Ghost Town".

Mick: Then last week I redid the vocals for this.

Good guitar sound.
Great auto-tune Mick, bravo.
Jagger/Clifford song.

No Chuck Leavell ? Quite a surprise.

Crisis ? What crisis : $$$$$ again. Great opportunist job.

Yep. The bridge is nice but the rest of the song sounds like an outtake from the Forty Licks-sessions. Decent, but nothing spectacular.

At the first listen yesterday I was surprised and thought that LIAGT is definitely better than anything I would have expected from the Stones. I liked it. Now, a day and quite a few listens later I actually love it! I really liked Doom and Gloom but I think this is even better.
During the first listen today I actually got goosebumps during several parts of the song, especially when Mick's harp comes on. My body reacting to it like it usually only does during concerts, so I think it must be a really good song that resonates with me. I thought well, if I got goosebumps this time it probably won't happen again during the second time I listen to it in the day... I was wrong!
I would love to see them play this live.
Yesterday during lunch I casually told my wife that I'm happy because the Stones released a new song. She absolutely hates the Stones but I played it to her and she said something like "oh this is actually nice, I'm going to download this" - so if someone as anti-Stones as my wife likes it I think it might have a chance of getting quite a bit of success even with non-Stones fans.
For reference, the only other Stones song that my wife finds bearable is Miss You.
I forgot to add.... I also told my colleague that the Stones have anew song. She is a big U2 fan, doesn't particularly know the Stones. She loved it. Said she liked the bluesy feel.

I settle for a good twelf piece album this year (although, a double album would be fine too winking smiley) and then another album connected to their 60th anniversary. I think you would be happy too for sure if things turn out that way, rockman cool smiley

Well, now we know it's a proper Stones song. It's got an incomprehensible-to-outsiders acronym. Congratulations ohotos on being the first to type... LIAGT!
