there are great keith-bass-lines in the song - and the sound is very much like keith´bass on "crosseyed heart". maybe he played the bass on the "backing track"?

Nice performance although Keith simulated the whole song...
Most of you are hoping for shows sometime in the future, in the worst possible case this could have been their last ever performance...
I don't hope so, but I think real gigs with audience won't happen for a long time.

You can look at things from a negative point of view AND from a positive point of view.
The other day I saw different kinds of mouthcaps with the Stones logo on the Internet. We can all come together in a big stadium with those colorful mouthcaps on and some creative eyeprotection, Stones gloves, you name it and ... all will be fine. Incomparison with the price of the concert tickets, those are only minor additional investments. I already can see those amazingly colorful drone shots.

Of all the performances tonight, one stand out for me. The closing song:

Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga, Lang Lang, John Legend perform "The Prayer"

I play it again and again. Such a great song, great piano playing, and four great singers.

Great tribute to the world and to the health workers. Sad to see the missing part, we all know how strong this song is when the crowd take over at the end.

And yet it was great they made it possible for people to sing at home thumbs up

Definitely air drums. Never seen wireless sticks that thin. Please show some, if I'm wrong.

That was well done. I think my favorite was Billie Joe Armstrong. He played & sang great & the video of all the empty cities was very well done. Emotional.

I assume they did a base track with Mick, then it was passed on to the other members, playing back on it. Then some minor sound was added. I assume a certain tree farmer in Macon, Georgia did some work on it too. Like Mick said, without Chuck Leavell, no Stones.

This was not a performance to be evaluated technically. It was a performance telling the world The Rolling Stones support WHO and the health workers who work night and day during these crazy days. Also in tribute to those who clean, and everyone else who have hard times these days.

I like the basic style of the performance. Mick and Keith on acoustic guitars. Stripped down. Charlie stripped down. Ronnie carry the solo, like he does always. Keith adding backing vocals. Charlie smiles. They are all alive and kicking. That is all we need to know. I can't see why they should have rehearsed for weeks to do a "postcard" song to the world.

The did a great tribute performance.

Agree ... "alive and kicking" !! The most important thing ... !!

There are sensors you can put on normal drumsticks and connect to a device. But I see no sensors on Charlie's drumsticks and they're too thin to be wireless sticks. And where does the kick drum come from?

I've cried during the whole thing just because of the thought of that being their last "live" performance...

I was concerned the minute Jagger kicked off the guitar part. In the past few tours he's played along with Keith, but historically that iconic opening is Keith's. I wanted to see him using a capo on the 8th fret - tuned to Open E. Open G on the fifth works as well - but it's not the original sound of the recording. But Mick sounded great and Woody was wonderful. Keith is a guitar icon - I just cannot understand his lack of playing.

??? You should have cried from happiness young (wo)man. Your thoughts are very likely wrong. I met an Aussi woman, named Jane, way back in 1995 at a concert in Rotterdam (NL). After the concert I noticed that she was crying and I asked her what's the matter. She said exactly what you said. She had spend a fortune, leaving husband and kids home, because "that" was the last tour and the last concert (yep, the Rotterdam one) of the Rolling Stones.
I hope she is still alive and kicking and maybe remembers my words. Hey Jane, the Rolling Stones are alive and kicking almost 25 years later! Stay positive, sh*t happens anyway.smileys with beer

Is Charlie playing on his Playskool drumkit or what is this? Looks like he is locked up in the basement also.
Otherwise: cool to see the guys are still alive and playing.

That was an anti climax, Salt Of The Earth would have been so much better

"Turd On The Run" would have been even better! Imagine Jagger signing the "Vaseline, you give me disease" line with a wicked smile. grinning smiley

If this charity event had taken place in 1975 I'm sure they would have picked TOTR.

I found the entire show extremely emotional although these days, I've been more emotional than usual. It was wonderful to see the boys.

Can anyone make out what book that is on Keith's coffee-table (or is that a trunk ?) ?

The keyboard is the first instrument to come in, I think Mick is playing along to that +drums and bass, Ronnie and Keith are playing to the same with Mick's part added.

The book probably was Captain Teague's pirate codex. perhaps a household version.
the trunk might have been a Louis Vuitton case winking smiley

Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. See there: [amazon01.pixnet.net]

Could be a fake book with boose inside, anyway.
