I just can't see Charlie participating in something like this.

"Whether the group intends to perform together, remotely, via some kind of Zoom-like arrangement was not disclosed. But the Stones’ core quartet of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood will all be taking part, a Global Citizen spokesperson confirmed."

Probably a 30 second PSA.

Yeah, but he might have balked as there's probably something (or someone) involved with it that he doesn't agree with, and will end up doing something else that he can stand behind 100% ala Farm Aid.

That's the way I look at it, plus it passes the time.

I think they will use this as a publicity appearance and give us one of two things.

A new song and announce they are finally going to give us the new album we have waited 15 years for.

Or, they will play Angie and announce the release of Goats Head Soup remaster.

They will have to do something to keep the momentum going and one song like Miss You is not going to keep it going.

Always a sucker for the merch, especially when it helps a cause, likely going to snag a shirt or two.
Would prefer the Stones tongue version, perhaps at their store later at twice the price cool smiley

are these shirts made in china?

The Stones are either going to be really great, or total crap.
I'm rooting for them, but can picture Keith and/or Ronnie completely screwing everything up without a care in the world.
Having flashbacks of the them backing Dylan at Live Aid...I remember watching live and shaking my head...wtf...lol...it was horrible.
Mick seems to be the only one who's competent with these newfangled ways of live streaming, so look for him to be the highlight.

Seriously doubt they have the balls to play an entirely new, unknown track to an audience of millions--they don't have that confidence anymore.

I do not think many of the millions 'out there' would know Salt of the Earth!

The Stones do this because they want to support the case. What they do isn't as important as the fact that they do it.

you

As I said in my post yesterday, the Stones' performance (and many of the others) will be pre-recorded...regardless of how it may appear on the broadcast. It is a high-profile event and there is too much risk of having a technical glitch derail the evening, not to mention that with the time difference it will be very late in the UK and France at show time. Look for the Stones - and all the other acts - to do one song apiece.

Whatever they perform it will be pre-recorded, so there will be no 'screwing up'

Then I wonder how many takes it took to get the right "performance"...
And maybe they were recorded at different times starting with Mick which would give the others the opportunity to jam along and separately dub in their parts.
But seeing as it's pre-recorded, will be difficult to tell if they were performing all at the same time, or not...

Indeed. Never heard most of these performers (by now: any!), but I find it very enjoyable just follow the flow and just dig the performances. No prejudices just a free mind (pretty hard for an old fart like me). And it is a nice feeling knowing that in a few hours time, The Stones will be there... Even better that we don't what or how will they do... not just the song selection, but in which way they will deliver it. By now, there've been many different ways to do it - direct live, prefilmed & recorded performance, people performing in different locations, etc. Unpredictablity haven't been the forte of the Stones performances for ages, so I enjoy the moment now..grinning smiley

It will probably be bad... set your expectations low. They don't have the benefit of a stadium or arena PA which is can be quite forgiving...

Isn't it 2 am?

If you're watching linear TV you better check which Dutch channel that broadcasts the show. For streaming, YouTube and loads of other streaming services broadcast the show. Simply type "One world together at home".

We need to be thankful they won't have Zeppelin playing Stairway to Heaven. What message would that send? Or Alice Cooper playing Dead Babies?
