Of course we will see The Rolling Stones live more times. Also, of course there will be a new studio album. It's just a matter of "waiting out" the virus.

We are all on hold at the moment, not just The Rolling Stones, but the entire world. Next year the first people will get access to a safe and working vaccine, and during the rest of next year enough people will get it so that people may start to live more normal late 2021 and early 2022.

Then we will have another show, and a new album. Mark my words.

The Rolling Stones Geriatric Tour 2022

I give it a 50/50 chance there will be a vaccine by next year, and if there is it will take another year to be safely distributed worldwide.
I also give it a 50/50 chance that we'll ever see the Stones live again - whether a full tour or just a couple of shows, maybe just one grand finale show.
As for a brand new album, I give it ZERO chance against happening in the next three years - expect another new single every six-eight months maybe.
There's a 50/50 chance I could be wrong on some or all of the above, but I'm pretty confident this might just be the way it will be with nothing guaranteed.

I hope so, as long as there is some new material to play

Ugh, the virus isn't the only issue, Charlie's age also an issue. If no new shows by 2021, can't see Charlie wanting to do it in 2022 after 2 years off. Health of the band at this point is as big as a concern as COVID.

I don't think big arena/stadium tours will be feasible for at least another year. Probably longer. What Jagger might feel obligated to do is to play those cancelled NA gigs. I don't know if that will happen though. Probably not. My guess? Tours are over. They might play the odd memory or charity gig though. In a year or two. New album. Might happen, but most probably not. What we will see however are more re-issues and one or more new (or sort of new) songs. Dropped now and then. When it suits Jagger.

If they would arrange their songs in different ways, okay.

I hope you don't mean "arrange their songs in different ways" like what they did to 19th Nervous Breakdown on stage in 2006. It made me puke.

The world will be very different in 1-2 years time, when they will be able to perform in front of a crowd of more than just a few people. Still, before that, they may be able to meet up in a studio, in LA, NY, Paris or wherever, and we do know that Mick is working on songs on his own.

The Rolling Stones have been around for 58 years. We will have something great for 2022, for their 60th anniversary, I am sure. The large tours may be over, but I just want to see them one more time live, may be two or three.

Three sounds good for me. Fingers crossed.

"The face the fact" thread has been merged with "The Rolling Stones and their future" thread. Anyway, finally an interesting (sticky) thread.

Apologies to disappoint you all, however I feel i is over. They may release a final album. But for tour the curtain is down. Not even one show. As someone pointed out on 2022,all the members will be around 80 or nearing 80.

Could very well be. At least if the virus threat isn't sorted out very soon. And to everyone who's dreaming of small handful of shows or even one last show:

The Stones perform to make money, not to lose money. I just can't see it financially feasible to start the whole costly machinery again for just a small number of shows, not to speak of even one farewell show, even if it's being recorded and commercially distributed in whatever format. Unless they do it mainly for the glory...

They'll find a way to do it for the glory ..... like Havana Moon - they found a sponsor, recorded & commercially distributed it in every possible format and made it hence economically feasible.

Brown recorded six sides at a 1930
recording session in Grafton, Wisconsin.

They were released on three 78-rpm
shellac discs, of which only one has been found.

>Can't tell my future, and I can't tell my past

That is a brilliant lyric.

Rockman, you ever read that book about trying to recover jettisoned blues 78s from the river outside the pressing plant in Grafton? I forget the title but it was a great read and really got me interested in original blues recordings.

floodonthepage, the book is called "Do Not Sell At Any Price" by Amanda Petrusich.

You would want to read this because of your proximity if no other reason.

Very good read, a little chatty in places, but I learned a lot and a lot of it came from right there in Grafton.
