The Reluctant Movie Star (bonus feature with one or more version of hail hail rock and roll dvd) is a far more interesting documentary and for the talking heads, david byrne's movie True Stories was very special, way better than that big jacket "concert" movie.

Looked sad and staged from down here …..

He has made a career of exactly that.

But he was the terror of the polo field and the overland rally, and, of course, the drum kit.

Look at this skit or whatever exactly that is. Like Ian Anderson doing his George Carlin impression. Whenever I watch Tull concert videos this guy manages to both surprise and somewhat embarrass

Many great suggestions already, but I don't think I saw this one yet -

Rock 'N' Roll Exposed: The Photography of Bob Gruen (2011) - This was a fascinating doc about Bob and his adventured photographing John Lennon, The Clash, and many others - def worth checking out!

My other recent favs

Beware Ginger Baker - fantastic movie and I hardly knew anything about Cream and not much of a fan but he is a crazy, interesting guy. He died last year.

Marley - There are many Bob Marley docs but this one is def the best.

Muscle Shoals - Great Story about this legendary studio

Sound City - mentioned above.

Some of my older favs - leaving the Stones out since you all have probably seen them.

Buddy Holly - The Real Buddy Holly Story

Classic Albums: Great series, but these three come to mind pretty quickly. The Making of Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon, Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and The Who - Who's Next.

Tried to watch "Until the Light Takes Us", a documentary on the black metal scene, something I just don't get (I mean I get what it's about I just don't know 'why' ) , and that didn't really help me...not for the faint of heart either. But I'm running out of things to watch being locked in for 3 weeks now!

Hollies documentary on Amazon Prime was pretty good since worthless talking head type music critics were not involved. Worth watching imo.

That Hollies doc is excellent, so well done with the four classic era members and some mighty fine music. What a band they were.

I just watched a four part series on Epix called PUNK. It's the story of you guessed it..….punk music. Almost no talking heads of periphery people. It starts out credibly with Iggy Pop and the MC5, both Detroit. They interview most of the heavy hitters still alive. Johnny Rotten was interesting, but he looks terrible. He's bloated like he's on steroids or something similar. Great footage. Great documentary.

I'm sure this has been posted previously elsewhere on IORR, but, here in all its 1965 glory, the NME show. It brought back to me how much I loved The Animals in their early days.

I just watched “Sex Pistols - What A Great Time To Be Alive” which I believe is footage from this series. Very interesting. Also interesting is that back in the day how the punk thing was to diss The Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc. The New Wave never did get rid of them. But glad that it (the New Wave) happened as we got to see some good artists that came out of it.

Journey - Frontiers And Beyond (1983 tour documentary)

When I first saw this when I was like 10 I was disappointed there wasn't as much music as I hoped but now it still stands as the best life on the road documentary.

First show, Journey & Bryan Adams at the Forum 1983!
