Serious cheese - It's kind of comical listening to it now but I know back when it came out I liked it LOL

Mick wanted to become a solo star in the 80s as big as Michael Jackson and Prince with that album

Definitely cheesy! And I'll give it a "little bit of fun".

I went through this too about a year or two ago.
Kept playing it in my car over and over.

It will last a few days, then the album will go dormant in your interest for another 10-15 years.

Enjoy it. Ride it out.

I've revisited it and it's awful just like then.

I think I posted on FB more in the last week, than in my entire stay there. And yesterday I started a long thread with people about how I been listening to a lot of back catalog music by classic bands. Been on a Pink Floyd kick.

So "Mick Jagger' solo could be one of the next endeavors.
I think Rocky Dijon had posted re. 'Primitive Cool' recently; made me re-listen some of the tracks. They are probably even worse than I remembered.
I think with Jagger solo it makes a huge difference who he surrounds himself with. His partner will color his style, and writing. Jagger is after all a chameleon. Dave Stewart is not good for him IMO. And while I think Jeff Beck is the greatest guitarist alive, I don't think he works well w/ Jagger either.
Jagger needs softer edges, he needs humor!, perspective. Also someone who isn't necessarily a fan of his.
I Jagger's favor I give him props for experimenting. Part of daring like that is to fall on your face every now and then. Because the successes are sweeter then. I still think that "Might as well get juiced' is a success.

Hard Woman is Jagger's best solo track and up there with the best songs he's ever sang.

The album has some good stuff on it. I like Party Doll, lonely at the top, Lucky in Love, and others.

I think "Party Doll" was on Primitive.

I put it in the same category as the Ringo and George Harrison records. Because I loved the Beatles and Stones so much, I tried to force myself into loving these records. Eventually I punted that idea

Put me down as a fan of the album too; whilst its not a great piece, there's a definite charm about it and some fine melodies. Secrets, Just Another Night, Hard Woman, She's the Boss - good tracks. Even Running out of Luck and Turn the Girl Loose are memorable.

I watched the movie recently and enjoyed it for what it is - campy, oddball fun. Its not supercool Jagger of the 60s or 70s, but its not quite "Let's Work" cringe either.

Yes, Hard Woman is definitely a great song. And so is Just Another Night.

No obviously that record is fantastic. Cloud 9 ok too. I honestly like the RINGO lp and Goodess in the Doorway. But the others didn't require many repeated spind
