I'm sure this video has been discussed here before but I just discovered it today and it's worth sharing.

He's right about they sound better in mono, those recordings. The example of Under My Thumb is astoundingly obvious.

Love the mono sound of the early Stones and The Beatles. I still have the original mono albums from back then for both groups along with a few by Dylan.

Question: to truly appreciate a mono recording on vinyl do I need a mono phono cartridge?

I'm planning on getting the mono cd box set. I realize the early recordings were meant for mono but I love hearing stereo versions.

Well actually some of the stereo versions are good to my ears. However, the mono is best overall for Beatles and Stones in my opinion. Minus '68-'69 of course.

Be aware that it is really hard to get official editions these days. Most of the cd boxes on the market are Chinese fakes.

Just bought the mono vinyl box and the albums sound fabulous. Love them.
