He just passed. If you're into jazz, or, for that matter, just great and interesting piano work/playing, he was/is a giant.

I had the chance to see him live, here in Lisbon, a couple of years ago; it was a extraordinary experience.

I still marvel that Bob Weir was so influenced by him.
Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead has mentioned numerous times how based his playing on Tyner's left hand ..Inverting chords,finding passing phrases,supporting but sometimes subverting.

To me, My Favorite Things and some of the others are as much Tyner as Coltrane.
I saw him at the Blue Note a few years ago. Still an amazing player

He did a guitarists album with Derek Trucks, John Scofield, Bill Frisell that I like.
However, McCoy on A Love Supreme is transcendentally brilliant.
