I saw Rocky 6 being filmed neare my Job and I though how embarassing

Do they/him need the money?

Come on it is embarassing

Stones my favorite band but could you see Lennon doing this?

I doubt it
Soap opera Super bowl shows..... Come on...

60 year men singing about sexual enconters love etc URG

Yea that will get a young audience

But Cash sang about about relecting on life and regret great

That is why I love "Laugh I nearly Died..."

20-30 years ago it would have been great cd but now same old SOS

As for old stuff seen heard them at there best play this in 89 81 and don't need to hear it again live.

If something interesting come out ok

But so far not

Too bad I was excited about this new CD

Why noy do a blues CD or a mix...

maybe they should change ther name to New Stones on the Block..........

Last I ear I told my wife I ould never se the Stones doing super Bol like McCarthy

Boy was I wrong

Wish i was not

Wish they heard American tales or sold these rock songs to a yonger band that can give it to an audience that would relate.

Come on mIck........................

they were not this commercial in the 60's

Interesting long-winded post, but I think you overcomplicate things...

On one level, it is certainly "about the money"... every person who works for a living wants to get paid for what they do... surely that's not a foreign concept to you...

But on the other level, you can take Keith at his word... "... we're musicians... this is what we do..."

As for them being 60 years old... take a look at almost any symphony orchestra... there's plenty of 60 year olds there.... take a look at so many blues musicians in their 60's and 70's... how many country artists are in their 60s ?? Plenty.

Your logic seems to be... hey, play your songs when you're young, then just retire to the garden...

Would you also recommend that all those middle age Stones fans also quit their jobs ?

what should they do? by ur logic they should all go in a garage and hang themselves. i still enjoy seeing them live and always will. they are not embarassing themselves by playing tight, kick ass concerts.

Of cause not quit but keep your enviroment society age and legendy perspective in view

Not complicated at all

Keep playing but stop trying to be top 40 Guru's Stop singing trite

Imagine Cash trying to redo Boy named sue over and over again

That would be embarassing

He did not

Johnny Cash actually DID re-record a lot of his classic older songs in the latter part of his career

Even the much heralded "American Recordings" series included a few songs that he had recorded decades before

"Stones my favorite band but could you see Lennon doing this?"

Easily. In fact if he'd lived a bit longer he would have been doing it at 50. Did you know the big revolutionary himself did a campaign in his last few years to raise cash for the NYPD to get them bullet-proof jackets?

Your comparing Rasing money for bullet proof jackets to a soap opera sell out"

Lennon had heart.

As Wolf said said "you can't go home again." although the stones keep trying,

Wish they made BB years ago but expected somthing better this time..

And I did not say don't play oldstuff OR promote it.....

Cash did but also sang in the prespective of the end of his life with reflection
and no one played it till now because it was deep and lasted

Will BB?

I believe the group that wrote let it bleed you can't always get what you want wild horses etc has something toward the end to say don't you?
Something more then "drive too fast"

I have too much respect for them to think otherwise

NYCSTONESFREAK, as they near the end of their careers (maybe) you are expecting something deeper and more meaningful out of the songs they are creating. You may have a good point. The songs that you enjoy the most seem to be the deeper, more heartfelt ones. All Stones albums are a mix of styles. They alway have been. ABB has a great mix of songs. If you look at all their albums there are rockers and ballads, heartfelt numbers and throw-a-way songs.

What more could they have to say? What would you want to see from them? They have been and continue to be a rock and roll band even at their age...is it not ok to be this way cause they are older?

The stage you are expecting from them may still be yet to come.

I don't hear any throwaways on Aftermath or Sticky Fingers.

I am baffled by people who think the stones should retire while they have thousands of fans, but I also agree with the original poster that I would have hoped for more insightful songs from them at this stage. Cash is a good example, or the bluesmen whom the stones are following by playing into their old age. I think that Back of My Hand and Laugh... are steps in the right direction, but mick's resistance to aging is a problem when it comes to flattening out his perspective on life. But it's a good thing when it comes to having an energetic bandleader, so there's a tradeoff, I guess.

I agree but why Days of our lifes super bowl?

It is either a pure sell out or money or both what say you

I acctually think there best music in later years will come out aftr they are done

Music never released...I hope so

I love a coupe of songs on new CD that have been mentioned ,

Why not just jam or do a reflective rock pkg

No one is going to take them serious singing 2o year old rock style tunes

Wish it was out in 84 not know....

How can George Harrison be listed considering he's been dead for four years? (yet dead ex-members of bands like Queen are omitted...)
