Well the North Pole has not reported any cases as of date. Also, He we will be travelling over U.K. late at night when everyone is asleep.

When he goes down the chimney he can put on a mask at that point. Rudolf may not be able to wear a mask while flying as Santa needs his red nose to guide the sled.

Didn't you know Santa has delivered the first pile of (properly frozen) vaccins to the UK? He got a shot himself first of all. So ... no worries! (Really?)

I was thinking that Rudolph could wear a shield instead of a mask so his red nose could guide Santa's sled.

Face shield isn't enough. Isn't Rudolph's red nose just the tip, not the nostrils.

something dodgy here, uk produce a vaccine, no one else has yet, and the uk vaccine isnt yet approved by the eu or who yet the government has waved any responsibility if anything goes wrong and expects us to queue up to take it, i certainly wont be, id rather have the virus cos then i know im safe and going to live.

vaccines need years of testing to determine if its safe, uk needs to wisen up here, were being tricked. the testing system didnt work either and they expect us to lap up false stats.

Tricked into what exactly?
You and all other people who buy into such moronic beliefs all know much more than the worlds leading experts in science and medicine, give me a break.
You don’t want the vaccine that’s your choice and one I believe you should make yourself and not forced into by law.The vast majority of side effects from vaccines present themselves in the early stages. No vaccine production has ever been needed so fast as this one which is why the people working on them have been working 20 hour days 7 days a week so you and everyone else can get back to living the life you took for granted before this all started so a little appreciation for those people wouldn’t hurt instead of these bizarre beliefs that there is some dark hidden agenda behind all of this.
You should be aware that there have already been major discussions between the CEOs of the worlds major airlines with a very strong consensus that people who have chosen not to be vaccinated will be denied boarding. In the airline industry if one major player makes a big move like this then the rest follow so good luck to anyone who is anti vaccine and likes to travel.
If I was you I would give some serious thought to educating yourself properly instead of buying into whack job conspiracy theories otherwise you can forget about travelling to see the stones because you and everyone else who shares these beliefs will be watching some over the hill group in your local bar doing horrendous covers of Bon Jovi whilst anyone sane will be broadening their horizons someplace else.

Apparently UK was fed data through the testing where it was a data dump at the end of testing for the US, resulting in the delay.

Biden and Harris will take it too once Fauci says its a go. The issue in the US is there is only a plan to produce the vax and get it to the states. That's like saying your electricity goes as far as the street but not into your house. Until there is a place to get needles in arms none of this will actually matter. Might take until late January in the US for things to start changing.

There was a press conference by the Norwegian government and the health authorities yesterday. We have these corona virus pandemic related press conferences 2-3 times per week, they go live and direct on the main news channels. Yesterday they rolled out the details of the covid-19 vaccine plans. An estimated 25% of the population will get the vaccine between January and April, as soon as it is approved by EU, expected late December. By April people age 65 and above, plus anyone at risk, will have got the vaccine, for free. Health personnel will get the vaccine in phase two. We have a low number of corona cases in Norway; if the numbers increase, and hospitals suffer, then health personnel will get priority, to avoid a health crisis.

Then they did some interviews with elderly people age 96 or so. One of them said she did not need the vaccine, because she had lived a long life. Others said they were not sure. Most people with a clear mind will take the vaccine, but I think we will get at a 70% vaccination rate max, because there are still many people who think nature is best on it's own.

Waiting for Fauci seems a little dumb once you have a full panel at the FDA approving.

It is symbolic. The FDA is still considered part of the current regime. Fauci is not beholden to the current regime and will be part of the Biden team. Getting enough people to take it is going to be more than just saying it is approved.

Dr Fauchi is probably the person most people would trust these days, given all the talks about having the vaccine "emergency approved" and so on.

Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., NIAID Director

Dr. Fauci has advised six Presidents on HIV/AIDS and many other domestic and global health issues. He was one of the principal architects of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a program that has saved millions of lives throughout the developing world.

I did some very recent updating/ comparing for the few people on this site who still think "influenza equals covid-19"
Just USA (sorry, Europe has too many countries, so to complex, but surely similar)
2017/2018 season : influenza 61000 deaths (worst season in a long time)
2018/2019 season : influenza 32000 deaths (normal influenza season)
2020 (so far less than 10 months : Covid-19 280000 deaths

At the current run rates the expected US death toll from Covid 19 in DECEMBER will exceed the 2017/2018 flu season death rate. Right now the leading cause of death in the US is Covid. No way to sugar coat that. Said differently, that is a stadium full of fans at the 2019 No Filter tour forecasted to die in December. Wear a f'in mask.

It is a new virus, and we don't know everything about it. Not a lot. Still, it has been around for a year now. We do know one thing: Many people die unless we do these three things, in this order:

1. Keep a distance of at least 2 m / 6 ft
2. Wash our hands
3. Wear a mask whenever we are close by other people

The number of covid-19 cases, and the fatality numbers, grow rapidly in every country were these rules are not in place, unfortunately. It will take may be six months or more to get the vaccines out to people. Meanwhile, hopefully, people understand this is a bad, bad, bad virus.

Most of us do and others are trying to be Darwin award candidates. Following all 3 precautions is no guarantee one avoids the virus but disregarding it is like playing Russian roulette. Very glad to read your level headed postings about it, now if everyone will listen.

Your math is a bit off, w/ Russian roulette, you have typically 1 in 6 chances of dying.

Pedantically that's completely true. One small step is far better than no steps at all.

Realistically you need a significant proportion of the population to be vaccinated, and thus presumed immune, for things to really change.

BV & others seem to quote 70%. So it's not going to be until a number approaching 70% have been vaccinated that you'll begin to see changes. Also don't forget that the Pfizer vaccine needs 2 doses, 21 days apart, and then a further 7 days for it to become effective. So a jab on 1st January won't really 'count' until the 28th Jan. A further 4 weeks delay.

Experts say we will need 50% to 70% immunity in the population in order to slow down the covid-19 pandemic significantly. They don't really know the exact number.

A teacher in Oslo Norway age 44 got the virus in his class two months ago. Two months on, he is still unable to work more than one day per week, and he will need one or more months to recover. His wife and their daughter age 7 got covid-19 too, but their son age 5 did not get covid-19. It seems like the younger you are, the less chance it is you get covid-19, even if you live in the same family, with people having covid-19.

All schools in Norway have been open since April. All ages. There are covid-19 cases in classes at times, more cases the older kids are. With kindergarten, and with ages 6-12, there are few cases, they do not socialize that much, and they don't carry much virus. The older age the more social, the more party, and the more virus is carried. Every time they see covid-19 in a class they quarantine the class so the covid-19 spread is closed, just like the vaccine will do the same.

There is no research for the level of immunity needed to slow down the virus, but as soon as the "R" i.e. the reproduction factor is below one - 1 - then the virus will slowly go away. That happens when 50% to 70% are not carrying the active virus anymore.

I assure April will be much better, and May/June will be even better. We will be able to stay outdoor, many people will have a vaccine, we do still have to carry masks, but the elderly will no longer die by large numbers, and we will not have to see healthy strong people in their 40's and 50's struggle and die from covid-19 as they do now. The numbers will go down. Meanwhile, for still half a year, we need to be smart, wear masks in crowds and in shops, do all that boring stuff. We have managed for nine months, since March, it should be possible to be smart for a few months more.

Regardless of this 70% vaccinated etc, that's not enough for the mythical "herd immunity". Herd immunity is scientifically aka realistically humanly possible.

Flu season is transitional, it's not fixed.

Here is a breakdown of the “peak months of flu activity” over a 34-year period between 1982 and 2016:

February was the peak month for flu activity in 14 of the 34 flu seasons, making it the most common month for peak flu activity.
December followed February, with the highest flu activity in seven of the 34 flu seasons.
March is third, with flu activity peaking this month in six seasons during the 34-season period.
January was the least common month to facilitate peak flu activity, with the flu peaking this month in only five of the 34 flu seasons.

[onlinenursing.duq.edu]

Something that seems to blaringly glaringly obvious to me that is not to the flag wavers is that "flu season" is just that, a short duration. Meteorological seasons are three months (winter is December 1 through the last day of February).

SARS-COV-2 is not seasonal.

70% max to effectively "stop the curve" or whatever? Highly unlikely. It seems that because of the amount of mutation SARS-CoV-2 is doing it will never go away.

They say we will struggle with the corona virus until most parts of the world is vaccinated. Africa. Asia. Rich and poor. We travel, people meet, the virus does not stop at borders. Luckily there is international work now to finance vaccine to countries who are not stacked with money.

Many elderly, and people at risk, will probably have a vaccine by the first half of 2021, then we will spend 6-12 months of re-vaccination, getting more vaccine, and get it out to all parts of the world.

There is no quick-fix, and there will be people across the world who will ignore the virus at all times. I saw the Georgia crowd yesterday, and the attitude there was the virus is no problem. I think the same attitude is many places. That is why the virus will stay. For a long while still.

May be there will be a requirement of a vaccination certificate to cross borders, like they have with yellow fever. I don't know. We will know a lot more during the next months.

When the entire world is vaccinated, at some point, and the corona virus is not taking thousands of lives per day anymore, like it does today, then we may live our normal lives, and may be, hopefully, there might be another Stones tour. I am sure there will be another one. Probably 2022. Hopefully.
