I'm in the high risk-group. I barely go out and I work from home these days.
As I'm sure is the case with many of you, it's driving me up the wall.
Today I have to go to the hospital to do blood tests. Many have been infected at that very hospital. In fact, they had to shut down a department because many doctors and health workers got the virus.
Wish me luck
Stay safe everyone!

How a simple virus can change things
The Republican government (Okay, supported by all Democrtats) has voted for costfree coronavirus tests and a "bonus" package of 500 billion or so to give each American a 1000$ stimulance. Only a few Republicans didn't like it.
This looks like socialisme (finally)
But no kidding ... stay healthy everybody!!! Plenty of Stones songs to choose from.
may the Good Lord Bless you and keep you Safe !Quote

Quick Forum Question: How do I find the NFL thread - need to make comment on Tom Brady's move. I tried through search function but it seems to be message oriented.

This is getting worse by the hour and the reality is this won’t be the last time this happens if these wild animal markets in Asia and other parts of the world are allowed to continue trading.
This is mother nature’s revenge.
Nate
That's similar to the first thing I thought, "the revenge of the animals".
Curious also that the measures humans are now being forced to take now more or less mirror the the actions suggested/advocated by scientists to fight climate change...........less flying, less travel generally, less consumerism, shops closed now in Italy, therefore less manufacturing, therefore less pollution...............

Mr Jimmy
I have a question:
Which, if any, major countries, or any countries for that matter, are uninfected, or unaffected by COViD-19?
Are there any places where life is going on totally 100% as normal?
Thanks.
There you go, it looks like a few places in Africa, a couple in Asia and East Timor and Venezuela ... [www.cdc.gov]

Right after the entry for Angola there is a "list of countries that have not reported any suspected or confirmed case of coronavirus". How life is going on there is a different question.
For those interested: according to that page, the State of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, to which also Mustique belongs, reported "its first case in a female who had travelled to the UK".
That makes me very nervous...I'm 41 and I had a splenectomy in my early 20s. It's really had no bearing on how I've lived my life, except I have to be vaccinated for the flu and pneumonia regularly, and I'm a bit more susceptible to head colds than I used to be...but with this pandemic? I'm technically immunocompromised, so I'm being as careful as I can.Quote

Younger Adults Comprise Big Portion of Coronavirus Hospitalizations in U.S.
Younger Adults Comprise Big Portion of Coronavirus Hospitalizations in U.S.
New C.D.C. data showed that nearly 40 percent of patients sick enough to be hospitalized were aged 20 to 54. But the risk of dying was significantly higher in older people.
“I think everyone should be paying attention to this,” said Stephen S. Morse, a professor of epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
“It’s not just going to be the elderly. There will be people age 20 and up. They do have to be careful, even if they think that they’re young and healthy.”

Due to an underlying health condition, I was today informed by my employer that I cannot return to work until further notice.
Hang in there, Big Al. I wouldn't want to be at my former job right about now. I got out in August. Be well

New York Times about testing for the coronavirus in USA:
Politicians, celebrities, social media influencers and even N.B.A. teams have been tested for the new coronavirus. But as that list of rich, famous and powerful people grows by the day, so do questions about whether they are getting access to testing that is denied to other Americans.
In New Rochelle, a community north of Manhattan where the virus has spread, a sick mother was told she could not get tested because she hadn’t been to a global “hot spot.” In Boston, an employee at Biogen, a tech company where many dozens tested positive after a conference, was turned away because he didn’t have symptoms. On Twitter, the hashtag #CDCWontTestMe has been circulating for weeks.

The NBA has been using private labs. They're not getting preferential treatment, and it was 100% prudent for teams to be tested once several players came back positive.Quote

I mentioned this when I was fighting to get a test. The people in the health care system don't like it when things like this are brought up regardless if they are true. 1 would think the government would step in & make sure ALL kits being manufactured are being put into the system for everyone given the critical shortages that exist, at least in the US. It's the usual money uber alles though.

Since the beginning of time.
I certainly hope so, but it's only two data points. As you said, several days worth of data will be needed to show which way it's trending there.Quote
