I've read that Italy has 9,172 cases and the hospitals are overwhelmed.
Tell me, how can a nation of 60 million people not be able to absorb this number of cases.
Another report says the country has had almost 3 million cases of flu this year. No reports that crashed the system.
So something is not adding up.

This cornavirus story may wind up being more the stresses of aging societies than an epidemic story.

Taking my 14yo daughter in for testing tomorrow AM.
Came home from school pale, coughing, sore throat, and fever symptoms etc.
Just a little pale I noticed when she left for school, rest of it has come on quickly.

Hopeful obviously that it's a common cold or flu. 17 people being tested in my county so far with none coming back positive yet, so trying not to get too panicked.
Grateful there are test kits here, not sure of the wait time yet for results, but have read a few days, where we will all have to be isolated waiting for results.

Wife wants me to go elsewhere (beach place) until we get results, as I am "high risk" and they are not, but I am going to ride it out and take care of her regardless,
partially because it would likely be too late now and partly because that's what I do.

Good ol' "Ed & Pearl Jam" - the inevitable political aside and nothing about how we can get a refund.

3 new cases of CV reported in Southern California. The Coachella Festival will be cancelled next week. Followed by NO Jazz Festival. The likelihood of the Stones tour going ahead is 50/50.

Coachella postponed until October is the rumour going around...

Pearl Jam have postponed the first leg of their tour.

Sorry, I see there’s a separate thread about this.

Never mind. I found. March 18th. They had no choice really. The Stones can wait it out a few more weeks before they make any changes I would think.

Thanks. About an hour and a half north..
No cases here yet, I'm sure it's just a cold or standard bug.. hitting close to home tho.

The hospitals might not be overwhelmed with just people that actually have the corona virus. But maybe everyone that has a simple cold etc are going to the hospital to get checked where normally they would just call it a cold and go on with life as usual

“Stresses of aging societies” now that is a good one. Obviously this must be a joke - thanks for the chuckle.

Did the band Tool start their tour Monday night in Spokane? Its not a band I know a lot about but they’re a big act.
They sell out arena’s everywhere and I understand they had a fan in New Zealand who had the virus.
He reported it and promptly self quarantined, the news gave out the section he was seated in and told anyone in the area to get tested.
This was February 28th and they were starting an American Tour March 9th at the Spokane arena, around 12000 people.
Obviously the two places are far away from each other but I’m curious how the band reacted, if at all.

The Pearl Jam Tour should have taken place from march 18 till april 19. Of course the tour is cancelled in this current situation. But the Stones Tour will start three weeks after (!) the originally last date of the PJ tour. I don’t see any reason to be more in panic right now. In early May the world can look totally different. Keep positive the virus will be more in control when the Stones start touring!!

All the best to you and your family!
An expert who is working with such tests said the test itself only takes 3,5 hours. But it depends who is doing it and where in which laboratory they can ckeck it.
