I am getting into St Louis on like no sleep (can't sleep on a plane) but totally into the museum and I hope I can make the time. The next day I am going to the zoo.

Maybe a group of us can plan a trip to the National Blues Museum. It's walking distance from the Dome.

Anyone up for this in the early afternoon on Sunday?

BBQ restaurant next door isn't bad either.

I read on Trip Advisor that the BBQ restaurant next door, SugarFire, offers discounts to the museum, so that seems like a good choice for lunch.

Maybe we should all meet at the BBQ place and head next door to the museum.

12:00 for lunch 1:00 for the museum gives up plenty of time before the show.

See you then!

Everyone please join in!

I just arrived into St Louis, it took all day with two flights from Boston. I live near the concert venue, just a few blocks away. This area is completely empty. May be it is daytime business areas, but nothing else. It is not "dangerous", just empty. A homeless pushing a shopping cart with his belongings said "I like your jacket". Not unusual they say that. He was the only homeless I saw in 6 x 6 blocks. And one or two bars and restaurants. And Hooters...

St. Louis wasn't ever really a vibrant downtown at least in my lifetime, but since Covid most are still working from home so I suspect it's even less vibrant.

I worked downtown from '88 until March of last year when due to Covid my company had us all work from home and I've been here since only making the occasional trip in.

A baseball game would liven things up but I think they're in Chicago.

If you're near Hooters your about halfway between ballpark village and the dome. It's got some chain bars but also local restaurants and bars, including the Budweiser Brewhouse though it looks like some of these places are restricted to carry out or still closed due to Covid. I see there's a Salt & Smoke there now which has some excellent beef brisket.

You might wonder West up Washington Avenue near the dome for some bars and restaurants for lunch; wouldn't go by myself or even as a couple after dark. That's an area that is known to attract crime late at night.

Lots of places downtown are only open for lunch unless there's a downtown sporting event or concert because everyone goes home, many to the suburbs, soon as work is over. But during the day there really wasn't anywhere I didn't feel safe enough to walk through. Gets sketchy at night though when there's no sports/concert crowd downtown.

Sounds like a lot of cities really.. Seattle is not much different.
Plenty to do in the day, but folds up at night.

LA is a good example of a major city where there's a lot of stuff going on right by the venue, but none of it appealing.

Kovach and bv were talking about downtown, and the L.A. venue is not in downtown L.A., but in Inglewood which is quite a distance away from the vibrant downtown area.
Lots of stuff happening in downtown L.A. - Staples Center, L.A. Live, restaurants, bars, etc., etc., etc. - too bad the Stones aren't playing at Staples Center like the old days.

Ok.. Inglewood then. Proximity to the venues were the point.
Maybe I'll post in the Inglewood thread.. oh wait winking smiley

Touchy. Lol.

I don't even live near L.A. and have no reason to defend it - was just saying the downtown L.A. area is happening unlike many other "Ghost Town" cities such as St. Louis and Seattle.

From Explore St. Louis
Face coverings are required at all times while in The Dome at America’s Center!

Guests are required to wear masks at all times, except while eating or drinking as part of our health and safety standards. Eating and drinking is allowed in your seating pod. Eating or drinking is prohibited while walking from the concession stand to your seat.
Face coverings must be fully covering the nose and mouth at all time.
Compliance with health and safety rules is mandatory, and attendance is conditioned on such compliance. If a guest violates any health and safety rules, the guest may be denied entry to or ejected from the venue, with no recourse for ticket refund.

I just checked the website again and noticed this line has been added:
Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test is not required.
Dome details

I would recommend people wear their fun Stones or other decorative masks over an N95 or other medical grade mask, even if vaccinated, just to be safe.

Proof of vaccines or negative tests NOT required....hmmm...sounds a bit sketchy...

Wondering how Keith, Mick, and Ronnie (and the rest) will stay protected while performing on stage?

Hope they and everyone else stays safe.

They've switched the stage fans up for this one.
Instead of pointing towards them for cooling.. they will point towards the crowd.

I kid.. but would make sense to have a few extra of those industrial fans pointing towards the pit winking smiley
Win win for the crowd.

Crazy to think Valentines Day 2020 theinsurance office I work in of about 300 people was a buzz with everyone trying to get Stones tix. Flash forward...everyone is eating tickets because they are opting not to go and realize the resale value for St. Louis tix is next to Nothing. Sad and depressing compared to the vibe back in Feb 2020.

It’s a different world, for sure. I’m more determined than ever to get to the shows I have tickets for though, considering all that’s happened since February 2020. Let’s do some living BEFORE we die winking smiley

Prior to the 2008 financial crisis, St. Louis was looking like it might finally turn the corner to becoming a fun busy downtown where people worked and lived, restaurants were opening, loft living spaces were selling, grocery stores were opening. But then, boom, construction stopped, people moved out, and suddenly we're back to the 1970's. sad smiley

I guess we did get a new ballpark and surrounding entertainment, and a few other small pockets elsewhere of entertainment, but the people are gone and the crime is back (mostly very late-night, car races, shots fired).

I am excited to be headed to St Louis! A few days early but I might catch some sound checks/rehearsals at the Dome and will report if I hear anything. Outside Chicago Soldier's Field a few days early was great fun before the 2019 tour. The Blues Museum, live blues, Zoo, riverfront and a few beer stops will keep me occupied otherwise. I hope to run into a few IORRians around town or at the Marriot. The band is on tour, its very exciting, I cant wait to experience a live Stones show again. First of five planned shows for me this year. Enjoy all!

I am staying at the Marriott as well. The clerk told me the hotel is full of concertgoers.

Also, I am going to be there at 12:00 for a little BBQ and definitely the museum.

Then off to the Dome for a quick look around. It's a few minute walk from the Marriott.

I have read through most of the posts here and Kovach seems to live in the area so I hope to meet up as well.

BV..........I know you scan this. Please meet us for BBQ( I'll treat and buy you a beer) and a trip to the museum. It's early enough in the day.

If anyone knows of a pre-show bar to gather with other Stones fans, let me know!

I would suggest Over/Under, nice patio, sports bar, looks like great weather. Sports bar, decent food.

Also I believe Rosalita's about 3 blocks west might be a good option, I think they have a good size patio, very good mexican food too (for St. Louis; this ain't San Antonio though!).

Coming from AZ I doubt I will test Mexican food in STL! Ha. What about Paddy Os? Is that the closest to the venue? It looks huge. I was planning on Over/Under to watch so,e college games Sat.

Paddy O's is on the south side of the baseball stadium a little over a mile away from the dome. Not a horrible walk in nice weather but not really nearby either. Probably a 20 minute walk. It's a very popular spot before baseball games.

I haven't been to Lacledes Landing (a cluster of entertainment options) in a very long time, was more of a college hangout growing up but was popular before football games as well. It's on the East side of the dome (head east in Washington Avenue under the interstate highway). It has changed a lot since a casino went in there. But it may be an option, just haven't spent time there recently to know.

city health department and dome staff are, for very good reason, taking this very seriously. city, county and state are in bad shape. there will be spotters in each section looking for mask violators. offenders will be ejected.
